I initially tested The Recruiting Advisor as part of its pre-launch, and it immediately became clear: I wish we had this tool two years ago when we started our daughter’s (Class of 2028) field hockey recruiting process. I have more than 10 years of D1 recruiting experience through lacrosse and soccer, so I’m not new to how recruiting works. But field hockey has its own rhythm and nuances—and that’s where The Recruiting Advisor is genuinely different from generic AI. It’s built specifically for field hockey recruiting, with a purpose-built knowledge base and learning recommendations that provide practical, sport-specific guidance.

What impressed me most is how useful it is for both sides of the journey. For student-athletes, The Recruiting Advisor helps you understand the process, build a smart plan, communicate with confidence, and handle real situations as they happen—what to say, when to say it, and how to respond.

For parents, it brings clarity and structure: the right strategy, the right timing, and the right actions. During the pre-launch, I “back tested” our daughter’s past communications and key actions from the last two years. The insights on overall strategy, timing, messaging, and real-world scenarios were incredibly helpful—and candidly, having that clarity earlier would have saved our family (and more importantly our daughter) a considerable amount of time and could have increased visibility and engagement with her target schools.

With four months to go until June 15 she will be using The Recruiting Advisor to help her finish the process strong.

Alan’s blogs and resources are incredibly helpful & especially timely. It’s difficult for kids navigating college goals due to the ever-changing rules in recruiting & roster limits, pressures that cultivate through social media, etc. Most parents didn’t play college sport, and even if they did, the landscape is completely different now than a generation ago. With Alan's resources as a guide, parents and student-athletes are better situated to take some control in the process & create space for the joy that all youth should experience through competing in sport. We used The Recruiting Advisor during my daughter's recruiting process and it helped us so much. We each asked it so many questions and it really helped us to decipher what real interest from colleges, then helped her narrow down the interest and then finally helped her narrow down the actual offers to ultimately choose a program that she is so happy and excited about! It is not easy and there's so much information out there while at the same time a lack of information for the player that it just helped a ton! Thanks for developing a great resource for the athlete and her family!

We hired Alan for one pre-June 15th virtual consultation. It was incredibly valuable! Our club is great with recruiting so we didn’t need more of his services, although I know he’d be an incredible asset in additional ways if we did need more support! What we learned during that hour zoom was unlike what I’ve read on his blogs or learned from my husband and my own college coaching experiences in other sports. If you choose to engage with Alan, you’ll learn what’s best for YOUR daughter for HER recruiting through a collaborative approach rather than the one size fits all approach to communication with college coaches. In that hour zoom with Alan, we learned that it would be more optimal if our daughter had her calls with us outside the room (and not listening in!) unless it was a requested family call. She was ready to engage with the coaches, mature enough to ask wise questions, and we didn’t want her to feel assessed by us in real time as that could lead her to second guess herself. While some of her friends wanted their parents in the room during calls and that may best for them, we realized our daughter thrives with independence and we wanted to honor that. Like his articles, Alan doesn’t operate in a “this vs that” approach. He’s a critical thinker and strategic. Alan asked our daughter questions that he would ask when coaching at the college level, and our daughter got to answer them in an authentic environment while also shaking off the nerves. It also gave her things to really think about before she spoke to schools. Our daughter gained confidence going into the scheduled calls June 15th, because she learned from Alan that the adults on the other end are just humans who want the best fit for their program, just as she wanted the best fit for her. That put her at ease and I can even say she loved getting to know the coaches she spoke with. Alan continues to support field hockey families across the country with his work, and I can’t recommend him enough!
