I am a school principal. This job has a lot of stress that comes with it and I wanted to connect with a guide on Forte to process through some of that. I scrolled through the guide profiles and found one that seemed like it would be a good fit. It is! She listens thoughtfully and asks good questions to get me to think deeper or consider things from another angle. At my last meeting we talked about the power of gratitude - that God's commands to be thankful come with blessing! That has helped me to choose gratitude instead of anxiety or frustration during stressful times. Forte affects who I am outside of work, in that I don't feel such a need to dump some of these things on friends as I have already had a chance to process it.

In communicating with him, I realized that I needed to stand up for myself because I am worth it, and I need to stay strong in certain situations that pose as a challenge for me. I realized that this is not my fault, but I am still struggling with how to resolve my concern at work. I hope that a few more times of discussing my concerns with my coach, will give me the courage to move forward to not feel as though I am disappointing someone verses offering help and accepting that others find it insulting to offer help, as though I am questioning their ability to do their job, which I am not. My job falls into the same lane that hers does at times unfortunately. I am not ready to discuss anything at work yet, but with communicating with my coach monthly, I hope to gain more confidence to assert myself in a way that sends a clear message that I deserve to be treated with respect, no rudeness, as we all do:)
