Wall of love for FreshRN Courses

Yvonne, BSN RN ONC CMSRN

I earned my CMSRN because I felt like I was stagnating in my specialized field of the elective post-op ortho world. However, despite passing that certification exam (and for some reason this class is advertised as *not* being a prep course for cert exams, but it *totally* would have helped!), I felt like I had just memorized ideas & facts for it, and I knew I'd forget much of the material afterward. However, working my way through the Med-Surg Mindset course afterward really help me better conceptualize and internalize what I had studied previously, and I was able to float to med-surg units with much less anxiety than I had in the past.

[NEURO WISE] Most recently, I was able to detect a pupillary change in my patient that was likely related to over-sedation. Nonetheless, I escalated care, advocating for my patient and clarifying the patient’s actual RASS score as compared to what had been documented. Understanding the importance of obtaining an accurate baseline neurological assessment empowers me to communicate all findings to the team. All of the FreshRN courses are helpful and encouraging. Kati Kleber and her colleagues share must know information that may be otherwise challenging to learn during orientation. You can also go back to the lessons at any time to review course content, and preparation is ultimately the key to becoming a competent and safe nurse.

[NEURO WISE] I am an educator for nursing students and have been assigned to a neuro unit. The information was a great review for me and your delivery will help me explain concepts to my students.

[NEURO WISE] I love this course (and all of Kati’s courses). She somehow is so thorough in the information, while also making the information easy to comprehend. She interests me in her lectures. I have experience in medical/ surgical/ telemetry and will soon transfer to an intensive care unit floating in between a cardiac and neuro icu. As a nurse with little experience with neuro and critical patient, I believe her neuro crash course and her ICU crash course has helped prepare me for this transition!

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I liked that it was very relatable. The examples that were used were real life. It was also helpful that the course talked about the good the bad and the ugly.

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I appreciated the 'hands on' suggestions for how to handle being a preceptor. Also the description of where the orientee is in their growth as the fledgling new nurse in the world of nursing or new department. I loved the real to life examples. I very much appreciate the paperwork part of the course. I will use these to help in my work as I try to teach new preceptors to be successful in their responsibilities.

Thank you so much for this, Kati. I'm a newbie nurse that just started mid October on a stepdown neuro floor. I got your new nurse course and your neuro course. It's hard devoting time to them with my 4 BSN courses too but every once in a while, I spend some time on the course and it's really helpful. Thanks for all that you do.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course has been absolutely amazing!!!! It has been extremely helpful. I felt like I had another preceptor for the entire time. I’ve only been off orientation for about two months, but I had a year of med/surg experience as well and I still learned so much! Thank you for this awesome course. I have recommended it to everyone I know who wants to go to the ICU!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I enjoyed how compressed this course was and goes over the important basics to start in the ICU. I would appreciate if there were drawings/ images. The language used in this course was very easy to understand. I have not started out in the ICU just yet, but if there were images on what the ventilator looks like, what the swan/ pa catheters look like, it'd be great. I understand this course is designed for a range of nursing knowledge, new grad to non-critical care experience, however, the main parts of the ICU that I feel are so different from transferring from med/surg to ICU, are the monitoring equipments, hemodynamic values, and ICU IV drips/ meds. If these sections could be focused on and expanded more, I think we would be much more prepared for the ICU.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] At first I wanted all of the content at once, but I ended up loving the weekly drop because it gave me time to fully understand and comprehend some of the more difficult topics for me. The disease process was the most intriguing because I loved the 3D interactions getting down to the path of the process. I know some people were commenting on it being basic; I don't mind because unit, processes, and medications expectations are different. I would like more in the ABG section and some interventions to expect. I love the report sections because it gave me time to make a report sheet and practice taking report and give me an idea on what to expect and ask. Overall I appreciate the hard work and will be referring back to this information.

[NEURO WISE] As a neuro ICU nurse for 5+ years I was unsure how much benefit I would obtain from this course. However, there were several lessons that had important information I was able to acquire. I would definitely recommend this course to my fellow nurses.

The Neuro Wise course has helped given me additional information in a clear and concise way and I think it will only benefit me as I journey through being a new grad in a neuro ICU. It is undoubtedly a steep learning curve, I will continue to make mistakes and struggle but I realize it is normal and in fact necessary that I go through it in order to become a better nurse. Thanks for all you do Kati.

[NEURO WISE] The course was fantastic! I was an ED nurse for 2 years and just moved to a nuero/surgical/trauma ICU. I took the course to perform the best for my new patient population. It not only helped me brush up on my nuero knowledge, but better prepared me for my new role. Thank you! The content is great, and immediately helped me out.

[NEURO WISE] I'm getting it a lot out of it! Thank you for creating it! The way I found you was just before I started my current rotation in Neuro, I came across some of your Youtube videos, the first being the ICU neuro report ... it's awesome. I'm not ICU, which was almost even more helpful, and impressive to my preceptor. :) So I purchased your Neuro Nurse modules, and have learned so much good stuff, it's been really helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!

[NEURO WISE] I transitioned from Med surg to the neuro icu at the busiest trauma center in the nation! This course made my transition easier because I was able to learn about neuro disease processes, equipment, medications etc., before my orientation. I was able to focus on the clinical aspect of my training, which impressed my colleagues. Thank you so much!

I replied to your email after taking the ortho strong course which was very helpful for me. It provided me with a deeper understanding of what occurs during hip and knee replacements, the recovery process, and how I can implement interventions as a nurse to make the healing process smoother. Also the explanation of the paging system and what constitutes a quality page was really important and something I wish I learned about earlier!

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I audited this course for my ICU, I plan to share my learnings with our preceptor staff. I'd like to see us improve our training process especially as it relates to the soft skills Kati covers such as time management, delegation, building rapport, giving and receiving feedback. Our unit educator and corporate training program covers the technical skills, but I am happy to find a resource to help us standardize our process with these more subjective skills.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I was better able to understand why certain pressors are used in certain patient populations. As well as I felt more prepared walking into work with COVID, as I knew the mechanics behind proning patients and how it benefits them.

[CHARGE NURSE JUMP START] Understanding the forces of healthcare help me to be a more effective and compassionate staff nurse. This course provides a new perspective on what it means to be the charge nurse, and how important it is for staff nurses to support nursing leadership. Even if you're not in charge yet, taking this course will help you be a better teammate.

[ICU DRIPS FOR BEGINNERS] I have been helped with condensing ICU knowledge. I have only yet completed the titratable drips course but, the way it was presented has helped me feel more confident and given me a good resource to return back to. So much ICU knowledge is hard to Google and get a clear answer, and it certainly isn't taught directly in nursing school because it is a specialty. I'm glad I have something to help me get the basics and teach me at my level.

I took your cardiac crash course and loved the content. I noticed recently that it’s now in audio files, too, so I can listen to it. I love this. I had my preceptorship last spring in Tele and having your course helped me to feel confident and more prepared (knowing what was important, what to look out for, how to talk to doctors, etc). I also took your resume and interview course and used your template for my resume (and got the job!) I listened to your podcasts about interviews and about new nurses and what makes a great new grad. All of them brought me a sense of confidence in myself, which was so needed. I love the cut-to-the-core realness that you bring. You cover what matters in a genuine way that’s easy to connect with. Love your content! Thank you!

Yes x1000 you have helped me! I did your cardiac crash course when I first started on a cardiac stepdown unit about a year and a half ago. I was actually severely bullied by my preceptor to the point of almost quitting nursing all together. Your course and podcasts helped me gain confidence with knowledge I wasn’t getting that I should have during orientation, and ultimately made me realize I would be oriented only once and needed to stand up for myself. I continued to listen to your podcasts all during my first year of nursing. I loved the “when to call a rapid response” and “I know what I’m doing, now what”. Don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing! Skinny jeans and side parts will always be relevant! Your experience, insight, and wisdom is so valuable. Thank you for sharing some of it with me!!

Hi Kati! I am a new grad and discovered your podcast just as I was graduating. THANK YOU for creating content that is so specific for new grads! This is such a hard transition and your podcast and Cardiac Crash Course have helped me so much in my transition to a PCU residency. I’m hoping to also purchase the residency course when it’s next on sale (still feeling like a poor nursing student lol). Just wanted to let you know you’ve made a difference in my journey as a baby nurse and I so appreciate you! 💕

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] Thank you for the contents. I have been a nurse for 7 years and I learned sooo much valuable information on this site that I feel like I should have known because its pertinent information for safe patient care. So much information is thrown at you in such a short amount of time that there is no way to retain a majority of it. That is what I love and fear about the medical field is that there is sooo much to learn every day (love) and because health care and its practices are ever changing, it is a momentous task to keep up with all the new data, safe practices, medications, side effects, new diseases and treatments etc... So courses like this are soo nice as a condensed refresher of general knowledge that should be accumulated in cardiac or ICU specific fields. I always want to know EVERYTHING about everything so I think I sabotage my limited memory capacity to retain info pertinent in the field. So I feel the info given here gave just the right amount to understand the mechanism of actions or the need to know details, to retain the knowledge and put it into practice. Thanks again for the refresher. I made some notes and put them in an easy to reference folder.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] As a veteran nurse who hasn't specifically worked a cardiac floor in years, this course was so refreshing and informative! I loved being able to sit down at home or work and pull up short reviews when I didn't have hours to devote to the computer. I will be back to participate in other Fresh RN courses!

I recently was asked by a patient's daughter to explain her mom's sepsis. I've always been confused by the topic, but I had just listened to the Med-Surg Mindset course on sepsis. I felt confident in giving a specific, yet patient friendly response. She told me that after talking to other nurses and doctors, it was the first response that made sense to her. In fact, she was so grateful that she told the charge nurse, and gave me a present when her mom was discharged.

I purchased the med-surg course to help me prep for my new grad residency on a med surg unit! I start next week but I’ve had a month between hiring and start date so your course has helped me feel much more confident stepping into my first day and having a grasp on what an actual shift will look like. Your course is just the right amount of detailed. I also listened to your podcast about interviews before getting my job and didn’t even realize you also made the course until after I purchased it! Thank you for all the time you put into helping nurses. 😊

I recently took your Breakthrough ICU course on FreshRN. I am not actually in the ICU yet, I currently work on a neuroscience med surg unit. However, my hospital is in the process of building a neuro trauma ICU and I am one of the leaders helping with the transition, so I needed some ICU background. Anyway, I took notes and plan to go back and re-listen to some lectures. It was extremely helpful to have access to ICU information without actually having that background yet. The objective information was helpful (meds, equipment, etc), but I also loved the emotional support and self compassion incorporated into each module. It made me think differently about how I will orient new nurses on my unit. Thanks for that. I definitely plan on taking a neuro course if you have one. Thanks for all the content!

It made me think differently about how I will orient new nurses on my unit. Thanks for that. I definitely plan on taking a neuro course if you have one. Thanks for all the content!

As a brand new baby ICU nurse I have been working through your breakthrough ICU course. And not only has it expanded my knowledge but it helped me feel less alone and less scared. New grad nursing is such a scary experience but having a community of knowledge and others feeling the same way has helped me be more confident and ready for the day. You’ve helped me very much and I believe you will continue to help me as I continue this journey. Thank you.

After searching the internet feverishly for a comprehensive course to meet my needs as an ICU nurse (I've been away from the bedside for 2 years), I finally found what I desperately needed in the ICU breakthrough and Cardiac course. These courses are pure gold! The course is prepared by experienced ICU nurses with advanced degrees and a wealth of experience! They way the courses are taught with real life experiences and no fluff gave me exactly what I needed. I feel like I have caring preceptors on call all the time. Thank you FRESH RN for the boost of confidence and the refreshment that I needed to be a successful, knowledgeable, and safe ICU nurse!

Your courses have been life changing for me and I haven’t even graduated yet!! I took your ICU course before an internship and just started Neuro Wise after accepting a job on a Neuro stepdown unit post-grad! Thank you so much- your courses have been the most helpful resources I’ve utilized!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Most importantly I want to say thank you so much for your courses, I'm a new grad Surgical ICU nurse and having the info readily available for me to review at home is SO helpful. I also appreciate how well you break the concepts down, it really helps me build a bit of a structure in my head for the different diseases and devices I'm learning to use. The stuff about confidence and being okay with making mistakes is something I really struggle with so the first section was exactly what I needed, too. This course has been such an incredible resource for me, I've been on my own for about 4 months now and having this to look back to for review has been so helpful.

Kati and the team does it again! This was a great tele review/brush up course. Everything was taught in a clear and easy to understand manor while also being fun and not dry like traditional textbook learning. This is the third course I've purchased through FreshRN and certainly not the last. On to the next course!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I wish I would have taken this before during my preceptorship! I am 2 years into my nursing career and I am still glad that I found this and did the course. I will definitely be doing more FRESH RN courses, especially since I can get CEU credits. Thank you so much!

[ECG RHYTHM MASTER] I've been doing home health for the last decade and am going back to a hospital setting. This was a super helpful course to refresh me on cardiac rhythms!

[MED-SURG MINDSET] As a psych nurse new to medsurg this course has been a lifesaver. First as an overview and then for references.

I purchased Master Class and absolutely enjoyed all the content. I was looking to acquire more confidence in my nursing ability and skills. I was not disappointed in the least working through the invaluable material presented. Since finishing, I feel much more confident as a great nurse and know when and how to give myself grace and to utilize my resources and newfound knowledge to keep my patients safe feeling well cared for, staying emotionally balanced with self-care, to support and be emotionally balance working with all co-workers and health professionals. Lastly, I have an even greater drive to learn more from FreshRN to continue on my journey.

I have taken MedSurg Mindset and breakthrough ICU (still halfway through the course). Great for newer nurses who want a head-start, and know what the ideal workflow is like. Courses cover nursing assessment, report, telemetry basics. ICU course covers ventilators, sepsis, and more! Highly recommended.
