I earned my CMSRN because I felt like I was stagnating in my specialized field of the elective post-op ortho world. However, despite passing that certification exam (and for some reason this class is advertised as *not* being a prep course for cert exams, but it *totally* would have helped!), I felt like I had just memorized ideas & facts for it, and I knew I'd forget much of the material afterward. However, working my way through the Med-Surg Mindset course afterward really help me better conceptualize and internalize what I had studied previously, and I was able to float to med-surg units with much less anxiety than I had in the past.

[NEURO WISE] Most recently, I was able to detect a pupillary change in my patient that was likely related to over-sedation. Nonetheless, I escalated care, advocating for my patient and clarifying the patient’s actual RASS score as compared to what had been documented. Understanding the importance of obtaining an accurate baseline neurological assessment empowers me to communicate all findings to the team. All of the FreshRN courses are helpful and encouraging. Kati Kleber and her colleagues share must know information that may be otherwise challenging to learn during orientation. You can also go back to the lessons at any time to review course content, and preparation is ultimately the key to becoming a competent and safe nurse.

[NEURO WISE] I love this course (and all of Kati’s courses). She somehow is so thorough in the information, while also making the information easy to comprehend. She interests me in her lectures. I have experience in medical/ surgical/ telemetry and will soon transfer to an intensive care unit floating in between a cardiac and neuro icu. As a nurse with little experience with neuro and critical patient, I believe her neuro crash course and her ICU crash course has helped prepare me for this transition!

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I liked that it was very relatable. The examples that were used were real life. It was also helpful that the course talked about the good the bad and the ugly.

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I appreciated the 'hands on' suggestions for how to handle being a preceptor. Also the description of where the orientee is in their growth as the fledgling new nurse in the world of nursing or new department. I loved the real to life examples. I very much appreciate the paperwork part of the course. I will use these to help in my work as I try to teach new preceptors to be successful in their responsibilities.

It's hard devoting time to them with my 4 BSN courses too but every once in a while, I spend some time on the course and it's really helpful. Thanks for all that you do.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] This course has been absolutely amazing!!!! It has been extremely helpful. I felt like I had another preceptor for the entire time. I’ve only been off orientation for about two months, but I had a year of med/surg experience as well and I still learned so much! Thank you for this awesome course. I have recommended it to everyone I know who wants to go to the ICU!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I enjoyed how compressed this course was and goes over the important basics to start in the ICU. I would appreciate if there were drawings/ images. The language used in this course was very easy to understand. I have not started out in the ICU just yet, but if there were images on what the ventilator looks like, what the swan/ pa catheters look like, it'd be great. I understand this course is designed for a range of nursing knowledge, new grad to non-critical care experience, however, the main parts of the ICU that I feel are so different from transferring from med/surg to ICU, are the monitoring equipments, hemodynamic values, and ICU IV drips/ meds. If these sections could be focused on and expanded more, I think we would be much more prepared for the ICU.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] At first I wanted all of the content at once, but I ended up loving the weekly drop because it gave me time to fully understand and comprehend some of the more difficult topics for me. The disease process was the most intriguing because I loved the 3D interactions getting down to the path of the process. I know some people were commenting on it being basic; I don't mind because unit, processes, and medications expectations are different. I would like more in the ABG section and some interventions to expect. I love the report sections because it gave me time to make a report sheet and practice taking report and give me an idea on what to expect and ask. Overall I appreciate the hard work and will be referring back to this information.

[NEURO WISE] As a neuro ICU nurse for 5+ years I was unsure how much benefit I would obtain from this course. However, there were several lessons that had important information I was able to acquire. I would definitely recommend this course to my fellow nurses.

[NEURO WISE] I am starting a new position in a neuro PCU and I am coming from a more cardiac-centered PCU. This course has refreshed some knowledge and I am feeling more comfortable and confident going to this new setting.

[NEURO WISE] I transitioned from Med surg to the neuro icu at the busiest trauma center in the nation! This course made my transition easier because I was able to learn about neuro disease processes, equipment, medications etc., before my orientation. I'd like to see us improve our training process especially as it relates to the soft skills Kati covers such as time management, delegation, building rapport, giving and receiving feedback. Our unit educator and corporate training program covers the technical skills, but I am happy to find a resource to help us standardize our process with these more subjective skills.

This course provides a new perspective on what it means to be the charge nurse, and how important it is for staff nurses to support nursing leadership. Even if you're not in charge yet, taking this course will help you be a better teammate.

[ICU DRIPS FOR BEGINNERS] I have been helped with condensing ICU knowledge. I have only yet completed the titratable drips course but, the way it was presented has helped me feel more confident and given me a good resource to return back to. So much ICU knowledge is hard to Google and get a clear answer, and it certainly isn't taught directly in nursing school because it is a specialty. I'm glad I have something to help me get the basics and teach me at my level.

[NEW NURSE MASTER CLASS] The new grad course helped me understand the structure of a nursing unit. I am a foreign nurse that graduated in 1998. In 2018 I passed the NCLEX. 2019 I worked in the hospital and purchased the new graduate course. It helped me understand better how things work.

I have been a nurse for 7 years and I learned sooo much valuable information on this site that I feel like I should have known because its pertinent information for safe patient care. So much information is thrown at you in such a short amount of time that there is no way to retain a majority of it. That is what I love and fear about the medical field is that there is sooo much to learn every day (love) and because health care and its practices are ever changing, it is a momentous task to keep up with all the new data, safe practices, medications, side effects, new diseases and treatments etc... So courses like this are soo nice as a condensed refresher of general knowledge that should be accumulated in cardiac or ICU specific fields. I always want to know EVERYTHING about everything so I think I sabotage my limited memory capacity to retain info pertinent in the field. So I feel the info given here gave just the right amount to understand the mechanism of actions or the need to know details, to retain the knowledge and put it into practice. Thanks again for the refresher. I made some notes and put them in an easy to reference folder.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] As a veteran nurse who hasn't specifically worked a cardiac floor in years, this course was so refreshing and informative! I loved being able to sit down at home or work and pull up short reviews when I didn't have hours to devote to the computer. I will be back to participate in other Fresh RN courses!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Most importantly I want to say thank you so much for your courses, I'm a new grad Surgical ICU nurse and having the info readily available for me to review at home is SO helpful. I also appreciate how well you break the concepts down, it really helps me build a bit of a structure in my head for the different diseases and devices I'm learning to use. The stuff about confidence and being okay with making mistakes is something I really struggle with so the first section was exactly what I needed, too. This course has been such an incredible resource for me, I've been on my own for about 4 months now and having this to look back to for review has been so helpful.
