We stayed here for a week and would enthusiastically recommend the Georgestown Inn to anyone visiting St. John's -- we can't imagine staying anywhere else next time we're back in town. Cindy and John's hospitality sets this place apart: they are incredibly warm, generous, and engaging hosts. In the mornings we were treated to not only a fantastic breakfast spread but also a large serving of excellent recommendations on what to see and of charming anecdotes of local lore. The Inn itself is beautifully maintained and outfitted with modern amenities (fast internet) and a friendly elder statesman of a cat, Elwood. Our room, the Lydia, was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the neighborhood it was located in and found it easy to get around by foot (5 minutes to the Rooms, 15 minutes to downtown). Thank you Cindy and John for having us!

Cindy and John are amazing hosts. They welcomed us warmly to their impeccably clean and comfortable B&B home. Great snacks and breakfasts, in a quiet location but convenient downtown. A perfect start to our Newfoundland vacation!

Elwood the cat was a wonderful host! He made sure that Cindy and John both did their jobs. But we think that was easy, because they both seemed to love what they were doing. Our visit started with the gift of homemade slippers to wear and keep, a quick but thorough tour of the facilities, and an offer of assistance to access transportation or find the best places to eat. Elwood also made sure we had our personal choice of Newfoundland favourites on the breakfast menu. Knowing that most of the day we should be relaxing, he suggested breakfast between 8 and 9:30, which suited us well. He also looked on with pride when Cindy and John regaled us with Newfoundland stories – great entertainment every morning over breakfast. And knowing that some humans might be picky eaters like some cats, he made sure that Cindy and John had fruit and other goodies available for the taking throughout the day. He even arranged for easy printout of boarding passes when we (sadly) had to leave. The price was very reasonable. But Elwood made sure you paid the “pat tax” – delivered directly to him, of course. He also guarded our rooms closely, ensuring never to invade our privacy. What a cat! What an Inn! Walkability: A five-minute walk to The Rooms gallery and museum.

My fellow Google Review reader, I'm not sure how you spotted this place, but - today is your lucky day, as this is really a hidden gem. I was initially shocked by the averaging 5-star review here, but trust me - it's not an exaggeration. We did not choose to stay here ourselves - our business travel agent reserved Georgestown Inn & The Edwardian Tea Room for us; it was unexpected because initially the agent tried to book with a large chain but it was sold out. This turned out to be the best surprise of our trip to St. John's. First of all, it's not to be missed if you are a cat person. Mr. Elwood is probably the most friendly cat we've ever met and I just can't stop playing with the cat and go back to the suite. And of course, Cindy and John are the most inviting hosts and they totally exceeded our expectations. They brought us great information about the city and the neighborhood, and offered so much that are way beyond hosts for a few days. Their life choices as mentioned during our casual chats are inspiring us well; it surely did make us rethink about the possibilities that can be opened up. On the more objective side, the location of the property is excellent. It's basically walking distance from everything you might be interested in St. John's, while escaping from any loudliness and crowdness of downtown. The suite and amenities are very well maintained and is a pleasure to enjoy. This is definitely choice of priority if we ever return to St. John's!

The best BnB I've ever stayed in. A beautiful and comfortable house with a warm, welcoming service. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in St. John's. Awesome location for walking to attractions.

Spoil yourself by staying here! We spent three days in May 2023 in this delightful guest house. From welcome to farewell everything was first class. The hosts are friendly, charming, accommodating and very helpful. The room (we stayed in Theresa’s Suite) was perfect. Big comfortable bed, with excellent linen, robes supplied, and a luxurious bathroom with a claw footed bath. The house itself is full of history and character with many eye-catching touches and quaint decorations. The breakfast is made to order and delicious, offering great variety and local produce. And it’s all home made. And we also booked in for a high tea which we highly recommended. Oh, and we were gifted home made slippers as a memento of our stay! Would we return? In a heartbeat

We can't say enough great things about Georgestown Inn. After a very long travel day, Cindy and John met us at the door with homemade slippers and a cup of tea. The choice of baked goods ready for eating was amazing. I think we cleared her out. They really think about the little extras that add up to a fantastic and very comfortable stay. The breakfast and coffee were also stellar. We got the sense that no matter what our request would be, Cindy and John would do their best to help make it happen. We will be back!

Just left the Edwardian Tea Room. What a special setting and experience. Appropriate ambience, clean, and quiet. We were given such personalized service by John and Cindy. Portions were great. Highly recommend.

Just an exceptional experience. Wonderful breakfast menu including veg/vegan flexibility. The innkeepers are smart, funny, and hardworking people who'll quickly become your friends too. Well-appointed rooms with cozy, homey amenities and a generous TV package. Walking distance to The Rooms (basically, provincial art and natural-history museum of NL, which was wonderful).

Its location was great. Excellent breakfast. We loved the flexible time for breakfast. Room was large. We had comfortable chairs to watch tv. Made available a number of streams services for no extra cost. Gave great tips for sight seeing. Treats and tea and coffe available all day. Highly recommend this B and B!

My two adult daughters and I stayed in Beth’s Suite at Georgestown Inn June 4-6 before heading out to other parts of Newfoundland. When we returned on June 10 (the afternoon before our flight back home), we talked about how it felt like coming home. We were walking distance to The Rooms, downtown and restaurants. Cindy and John are warm and outstanding hosts and attended to every detail to make us welcome, our stay comfortable, and our tummies happy with delicious made-to-order breakfasts and an all-day coffee/tea station featuring Cindy’s home-baked treats. I highly recommend this well-appointed B&B in a charming Edwardian house and will only stay at here whenever I return to St. John’s (maybe next time I’ll have a soak in the gorgeous claw-footed bathtub!).

We had the pleasure of staying here for 5 nights! The breakfasts alone are worth the stay so much to choose from and made fresh in the morning to order! Cindy and John are great hosts and know just what to recommend wether it be a good restaurant or places to visit. Incredibly friendly and passionate are the reasons we will be going back if I could give it 6 star I would!

We are just driving away from the Goergestown Inn, and Cindy and John, and are so sad to be leaving. We had such a wonderful stay. The place is gorgeous, close to everything, breakfast is unbelievable (the eggs are perfect!) and Cindy and John are so wonderful. We have traveled a lot, and honestly, I think this is our favourite place that we have ever stayed. Our 12 year old son Leo even said (unprompted) that they made him feel like he was at his grandparents house. If you are thinking of booking here, stop thinking and just book. We can’t wait to see you again Cindy and John - thank you!.

I travelled solo to Newfoundland and stayed at the Georgetown Inn & Edwardian Tea House for 4 nights (July 25-29). The house has been lovingly restored and maintains the character and charm of its heritage, but features all the modern amenities. The location is a 5 minute walk to The Rooms and about a 15 minute walk to Water Street, Duckworth Street and George Street with all the great restaurants, nightlife and shopping. Cindy and John were wonderful hosts and are very friendly and warm. They have attended to every detail to ensure that your stay at the property is seamless. Elwood the cat also adds to the ambiance with his friendly and laid back nature. I stayed in the Lydia Room which was very comfortable and featured a large bathroom. There is a TV in the room with access to many different channels and streaming platforms. Not all B&Bs I have stayed in have TVs in the guestrooms and it was nice to have the option to watch a it of TV in the evening. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. A portion of the breakfast is made to order and you fill in a form by 6:00am with your selections. The breakfasts also featured some of Cindy's home baking. I am sensitive to wheat and Cindy kindly provided me with some wheat/gluten free baked goods. As a teahouse they serve very good loose leaf teas - I would recommend the pomegranate/lavender tea. I loved my visit to St. John's and my stay at the Georgetown Inn and Edwardian Teahouse. I would definitely stay there again.

This is one of best inns we have ever stayed in, anywhere. Cindy and John clearly love what they do. The attention to detail at every level was amazing. We stayed in Lydia's room. It was small, but still, in addition to the very comfy bed, had two chairs and a bistro table for reading or TV watching, a bedside table, a writing table, and a closet. Our private washroom was just across the hall and was very spacious. As others have mentioned, the made-to-order breakfasts were amazing, and there were extra little treats/snacks in the common area every afternoon. As an example of how accommodating these hots are, they loaned us camp chairs and blankets for the two days we spent at the Newfoundland Folk Music Festival (highly recommended, BTW), and allowed us to spend an extra couple of hours in the parlour after checkout before our afternoon flight home. Thanks Cindy and John for making our last few days in St. John's very special.

A awesome inn! We loved every minute of it. The breakfast was amazing. Great location too for walking if you’re without a car/rental.

We are well travelled and have never witnessed such kind and hospitable hosting from Cindy and John our Innkeepers. If you treasure a gold standard to cleanliness and unique features with friendly conversation, there is no better choice than this property. They are most knowledgeable on the province and guided us to many special destinations. Top rate. Stayed 5 nights. Coming back for sure.
