I enrolled in HDSI to gain hands-on experience applying AI, especially Agentic AI, to real business problems and to support my goal of pursuing AI consulting. What surprised me most was the modern and interactive way of learning besides the regular live sessions — using AI tools hands-on, getting personalized videos and messages through the Teaching Team’s avatars, and working with Pasky as an AI tutor to develop documents through personal discussions, where my own thoughts could be incorporated into the work. I learned what AI automation can actually mean in our day-to-day work — how AI can augment what we do and help us work better, rather than simply replacing our jobs. I learned how AI can go beyond answering questions and become part of a workflow that can analyze complex information, handle complicated tasks, and support decision-making. The course gave me a lot of practical experience and, more importantly, more confidence in using AI in my work and future career. The Teaching Team brings a lot of real-world AI deployment experience, and I really appreciated learning from their lessons learned, practical tips, and insights on how to implement AI better and faster. At the end of the course, I was able to put everything together and successfully built a working Agentic AI prototype.

This course helped break down the concepts into consumable pieces AND provide unique context catered to my specific role and organizational factors. I've always been drawn to platforms that push me to learn, and when I found this program, what drew me in was the chance to learn agentic AI in a structured way, taught by people who are actually experts and doers in the space, not just people talking about it from the sidelines. What genuinely surprised me was how individualized the whole experience felt. I expected a fairly standard course structure, but instead everything was customized and easy to follow, at a pace and in a way that matched how I learn. There was a real "aha" moment for me too. It came while working through the interactive learning assignments and using the Paski the chatbot built into them. That's when it clicked for me that education platforms are not going to look the way they used to. One-size-fits-all teaching is fading out, and personalized, adaptive learning is where things are clearly headed. Professionally, I'm still very much in the process of applying everything I've learned, but this course has already made a real difference. It's helped directly with a project I'm working on and gives me practical tools and resources I keep coming back to. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, without hesitation. I'd recommend it to any lifelong learner, honestly, regardless of background. I come from the oral health education and practice space, but there were people from so many other professions attending this course from all around the world. Because the course is customized, you can actually apply what you learn to your own space and your own problems, which means your professional background really doesn't matter. I'm already thinking about how I can keep learning through this program, and it's not just about the content and the diverse expertise of the faculty, but the way it's delivered, how customized and personalized the experience is, that sets it apart. I'm always looking for platforms where I can genuinely grow, and Harvard's program did an excellent job convincing me to keep coming back, based on that personalized learning experience alone. I enrolled in the Agentic AI Intensive on the recommendation of a friend. What surprised me most was the course's rooting in human judgment, governance and the quality of organizational knowledge. My biggest “aha” was realizing the importance of being very deliberate about where people must remain in control. I recently took on strategy in my role specifically AI and emerging technology. The outreach for this course seemed perfectly timed to help me learn and grow. I just finished my doctorate online and was not excited about another fully online course, but I have been so impressed with the personalization and level of interaction. I mentioned in my 1:1 that the course truly feels like a labor of love for those who developed it. The course is laid out in a well-though out, easy to follow way that makes it clear what the expectations are. The personalized readings and the post live session connections to my job have made me feel connected to the material. The biggest aha for me has really come in the conversations regarding data and the importance of quality data. This really made me need to rethink how we look at our data and how we need to do this prior to trying to implement agentic AI into our processes. My recent 1:1 was great in that it made me realize that all the data didn’t need to be perfect and that I could start with something small where the data is good enough. This really helped. The course contains a lot of material, so I would make sure that anyone who plans to take the course is prepared for that. On top of a full time+ job, there have been weeks where I struggled to keep up. That being said, it is all really good material, and I have learned so much. Anyone who really wants to understand AI and not just how to use a tool should take this course. It has changed the way I think about AI use at my institution.

i'll be honest... i almost didn't take this seriously. "harvard data science" sounded like the kind of boujee course that hands you 200 pages of theory, a nice certificate, with nothing to actually USE when real work happens. nope - this course made me look like an idiot, fail, get hands dirty and i loved it. all the reviews i read about the course before were real talk. i had to take one of my own real workflows, map how it actually works (not how i wish it worked), tear it apart, rethink & rebuild it using AI agents and humans as interdependents. thinking, planning, doing... all of it against a live problem i actually care about: our paid ad performance that went to absolute shit earlier this year. the framework is called AGENT. audit, gauge, engineer, navigate, track. basically, you pick a workflow that MUST be tied to a meaningful business outcome. then, map the current state of your chosen workflow, redesign around agents, decide where humans stay in the loop, then plan who exactly does what, why, and what the plan is to measure what actually changes. two weeks in, i've quietly pilot tested some agentic flows and ... our outcomes have been better than ever... and performance is following. and the next step now is to really lean into the AGENT framework with the rest of the team now that the first pilot tests have gone well. now i get to hand that framework to my team and i'm cautiously excited to see what the future holds without just me and my blindspots behind it... a BIG thank you to Vinitra Swamy, PhD, Xiao-Li MENG, Dr. Dirk Hofmann, Sam Paddock, Dustin Schwarz, Ivana Ovcaric, Gyorgy Paizs, Clara Soldani, Rachel Erasmus , Ulla Kruhse-Lehtonen, my April-June student cohort and of course...🤖Paski, the insanely well trained AI agent course guide.

I just wrapped up the 2.5-week Intensive Agentic AI: Contextualized and Applied course from the Harvard Data Science Initiative, and I can confidently say they weren’t kidding about the intensive part. The pace was fast, the content was packed, and there were plenty of late nights working through assignments after I finished my client work. I definitely feel proud to have earned this certificate! What I appreciated most the course gave me a practical methodology for stepping back and evaluating the AI workflows I’ve already built, both personally and professionally. It challenged me to rethink how those workflows are structured, where they can be improved, and how concepts like guardrails, evaluation, and intentional design should be incorporated from the beginning. As a result, I was able to improve two different internal workflows by adding a guardian agent and implementing iterative looping to make them more reliable and useful. One of the most unique aspects of the program was the learning experience itself. Instead of simply watching videos or completing generic assignments, much of the work centered around an AI tutor that adapted to my background, interests, and level of experience. Having spent years in education and training, I found that approach fascinating. It made the course feel incredibly personal and relevant to my situation, my workflows, and my existing level of knowledge. The live sessions were outstanding as well. The instructors and guest speakers are among the people helping shape AI education around the world today, and hearing their perspectives firsthand was invaluable. Just as rewarding was learning alongside an incredible group of professionals who were already putting AI to work in their businesses and job roles. It was exciting to be surrounded by people who are just as passionate about building thoughtful, agentic AI workflows as I am. I have attended another Harvard Executive Education course, and it was the best learning experience I have had. This course is no different; between the lecture and material layout, it quickly becomes clear that you are not just learning theory, you’re building a solution, and using the course to do it. I use generative AI in my day-to-day work to create reports and presentations or to do product comparisons. This course focuses on how to think about Agentic AI. Running through the various frameworks, there is a moment when you learn how much prework is needed to be successful with an Agentic AI deployment. Most of that work involves understanding the processes within your organization, what data you have, and where it is. As an IT leader, I can say with some confidence that most organizations have that gap. I am using much of what I learned in this course to guide my organization in developing an AI policy, which we currently lack. If you are responsible for process, automation, data, or IT, this is a great course for you.

Taking this class has been mind-blowing. When I first thought about AI, I viewed it primarily as a tool for writing and generating content. This course has completely changed my perspective by showing me how Agentic AI can be used to help perform work for clients, improve governance, and support decision-making processes. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is how agents and humans can work together effectively. The goal is not to allow AI to take over, but rather to use it as a tool that enhances human capabilities. It has opened my eyes to opportunities within my own organization to delegate certain tasks to AI agents while still maintaining human oversight, judgment, and accountability. The one thing that humans will always provide is empathy. AI can process data, identify patterns, and deliver information at incredible speed, but it cannot replace the human connection, understanding, and compassion that people bring to relationships and decision-making. What excites me most is learning how to create a partnership between humans and agents that is both effective and efficient. I no longer see AI as a replacement. I see it as my "helpmate"—a powerful assistant that helps me work smarter, gather information faster, and make more informed decisions. I now view Agentic AI in a completely different way. My goal is to introduce these concepts to others in a human-centered manner so people do not feel threatened or fearful. Instead, I want them to understand that AI is becoming part of our culture, our workplace, and our future. The key is learning how to use it responsibly. I still have concerns about giving any technology too much control. However, I believe we can address those concerns by creating clear guardrails, governance structures, and expectations for how AI agents should operate. Humans must remain responsible for oversight and final decision-making. Another important lesson from this course is the importance of clean, accurate data. An AI agent is only as good as the information it receives. When organizations manage their data properly and use it responsibly, Agentic AI can provide real-time insights, improve operational efficiency, and support faster, better-informed decisions. This course has reinforced my belief that the future is not about humans versus AI. The future is about humans and AI working together to achieve better outcomes.

I am the President of a newly formed Family Office. We have a number of companies I oversee with a diverse group of associates and workflows. Trying to understand how AI and agents specifically could help navigate them was my primary driver. I was very surprised at the very organized learning plan and quality of the instructors. The AI tutor was exceptional and really helped me understand the material. My idea of using agents was "teach me how to create agents and that will be all I need. I couldn't have been more wrong. This AHA moment was realizing how I truly didn't understand our workflows. In order to use agents effectively, I (and teammates) needed to truly understand the workflows to identify weaknesses and needs before proceeding. This course has helped me understand the need to have data integrity and team buy in before jumping headlong into using AI poorly. I would recommend this course to anyone that is rudimentary in their understanding of Agentic AI and where to start. I would tell them to really soak in all the material and constantly be thinking about their workflows and how to streamline them. Start small and build from there.

After completing my second week, I have a clear understanding of how to prepare and implement a team of agents. My goal in taking this class was to assure we build the 5x Solutions AI structure to be scalable and extensible. This methodology helped us achieve that goal. We are rolling out our first set of agents in coordination with this study and have made improvements to our original plan. HDSI and Dain have given me the knowledge and confidence to take on even more complex work. I came into this course with zero knowledge about AI Governance, but I was full of curiosity to learn more about it. Most users of AI only know about the output they see (like I was), but not what goes into making sure it is transparent, complies with ethical principles, and respects privacy concerns. What surprised me about the course is learning about how much organizations are lagging in knowledge and training on these principles, and do not have an existing framework they abide by when implementing AI. However, organizations want to keep ahead of the innovation of implementing AI systems without a strong foundation. My Aha moment was when I learned that AI isn't really intelligent; it is just able to do trillions of predictions and probabilities based on data it was given to be able to communicate an output that the human user understands. That's amazing and fascinating! This course has helped me to see vulnerabilities within my department and inspired me to write a proposal to present to the chair of my department based on the STEER and PBG frameworks that will help foster transparency in our bogged-down processes. I think David was excellent! I am a visual learner, so his charts, definitions, and explanations were easy to follow and understand. The PBG framework really brought it home for me! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn about AI Governance.

I had an outstanding experience with this course—so much so that I’ve already enrolled in the AI for Leaders program starting in April. Through this intensive, I explored how Agentic AI can reshape organizational workflows, influence human culture, and enable more innovative, strategic decision-making alongside continuous improvement. It sparked a valuable “mindware” shift in how I think about applying AI in real organizational contexts. The AGENT framework and agent-first thinking were entirely new to me as a consultant. Adopting this approach allowed me to quickly apply concepts to real use cases, which accelerated my learning right away. I especially appreciated the lectures—both Dr. Stephanie Dick and Dr. Miguel Paredes delivered content that really resonated with me. As we move toward an increasingly agentic world, it’s exciting to see how agents can drive execution while humans focus on higher-level decisions and strategic direction. I was particularly inspired by examples like Stephanie AI and Paski AI, as well as the immersive use of AI throughout the learning experience (including the avatar). It really brought the concepts to life. One key takeaway for me is that this journey is just beginning. AI—and its rapid evolution—presents a powerful opportunity to rethink workflows end-to-end. I wanted to learn how they build and evaluate these workflows, as well as the challenges they face, so that I can better support them as things evolve. What surprised me most was twofold: first, I loved the learning tools and the platform itself; second, what we learned can be applied to much more than just clinical workflows. I was able to apply the logic and methodology to a healthcare-related topic, even though it wasn’t directly related to clinical care. I was motivated to enroll in this course in particular because of the length (3 weeks is perfect for an intensive course), the curriculum as well as the institution itself (HDSR). I was totally surprised by Paski! I think it is a great innovation in learning and I am excited to see this tool rolled out in other facets of education. I was also surprised about the podcast and just how much they got me just from the information I provided. Yes there was...I think that the difference between AI Agents and Agentic AI was a major aha moment for me. Before I always considered both things to be the same. However as I got into it deeper I realize that while individual agents have their place the real value is driven by Agentic AI and the Agent-centric mindset around workflows. This course has helped me by providing a great framework (A.G.E.N.T.) for me to think about, assess and starting working on agentic AI projects. I feel very confident is having discussions with IT folks in my organization (after just 1 week) about the key differences, the ways we can apply agentic ai safely and the governance we need to build around it. I would recommend this course to anyone that in Finance who is at the Controller or Director level. I think it offers a great look at agentic AI and gives them the ability to "elbow themselves" into a seat at the table.

Today marked the final day of the Agentic AI program through the Harvard Data Science Initiative. While much of the technical material aligned with work I’m already leading, the experience surfaced a few meaningful insights both structurally and intellectually. The standout for me was Stephanie Dick’s lecture on moral reasoning in LLMs, which reframed agency not just as a technical capability but as a moral pattern embedded in language itself. Her discussion of the trolley dilemma within AI contexts added real weight to the question of how we govern systems that increasingly reflect and act on implicit ethical preferences. Professor Xiao-Li Meng, Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Data Science Review, also introduced the concept of MindWare, the cognitive frameworks and interpretive tools that shape how both humans and machines reason. His emphasis on ethics as part of cognitive infrastructure, not just after-the-fact review, stayed with me. I was surprised and grateful to find real value in the cohort itself, a mix of CEOs, CISOs, founders, and systems thinkers, all grappling with similar questions from different vantage points. My initial intention in joining was to gain a better understanding of agentic AI workflows and real-world business use cases, and the program exceeded my expectations. I also appreciated that the information was delivered clearly and on time, and the overall value for the price was excellent. The faculty, guest speakers and structure made the experience feel solid and practical. This absolutely exceeded my expectations. The program gave me a strong foundation in agentic AI, especially around structure, governance and practical application. As someone with a non-technical background but deep interest in AI, this was exactly the bridge I needed. What surprised me most was how much clarity I gained around building an AI native firm. I walked away with a real framework, not just concepts. The AI tutors were helpful and responsive, although sometimes a bit limited when I wanted to explore topics more deeply. They work well for guidance, structure and clarifying the modules. I still think there is room for a more advanced or open exploratory mode for the people who want to dive further. I learned a completely new way of thinking about work, design and automation through agentic systems. The program sharpened my understanding of workflows, governance, capability mapping and how to design AI agents that meaningfully augment human roles. It was a mind shift and a real expansion of what I thought AI could do operationally. I would love to see a follow-up course focused on more hands-on build time. Something where you create an agent from scratch and take it through the full lifecycle would be incredibly valuable. I also think the final canvas used in the last module could be more user friendly. I spent too much time fixing formatting instead of thinking, but that is an easy improvement for future cohorts. I have already recommended this program. It is a great option for people who are curious about AI, in the early stages of adoption, or looking to build a strategic foundation without needing to be technical. It delivers real clarity, and it gives you the structure you need to make AI tangible in your work and your business.

I’ve just completed the incredible 2.5-week intensive Agentic AI course by the Harvard Data Science Initiative. It was an absolute privilege to have access to the latest thinking in agentic AI technology and how to begin implementing it in organizations and personal workflows. The lecturers were fantastic, and the course design was outstanding. Not only was it fascinating to learn about agentic AI, but it was also amazing to see the latest in AI being employed in course presentation: professor avatar, personalized podcasts and readings, my own private AI tutor. It was the academic equivalent of being in a five-star hotel. It’s going to take this human brain time to process and reflect on everything it's learned. However, one thing I’m sure about is that I’m going to start bringing agentic AI into my working practices now: little by little, error by error, learning by learning. My main takeaways: - Companies reporting lack of productivity gain with AI are likely experiencing a mismatch between AI technology and the workflows where they’re using it. To really start multiplying effectiveness, workflows must be fundamentally redesigned to become agent first. This will take time and experimentation. - AI systems need access to specific, structured knowledge and data. It’s no use to them if the information is in people’s heads. - AI currently excels in processes that are data intensive and is going to be best brought into processes with high impact and repeatability. - Getting good at using agentic AI is about experimentation and feedback loops. This is where the most creative and flexible minds in every area are going to be the greatest assets to companies. Keep that mindware in good shape. The closing words from one of the course lecturers Ulla Kruhse-Lehtonen really resonated: “This course wasn't about formal education or getting another badge, but it was about broadening your mindset and giving you a moment away from the hectic days to reflect and to be inspired and to explore what's possible … You don't need to become an expert in AI overnight … what matters is the curiosity and experimentation and the willingness to explore new ways of working … stay explorative, playful and courageous with AI.” I, for one, am taking her words to heart. I had been researching a class for some time now. What helped me decide was the discussion I had with the counselor that answered my questions and it seemed aligned. Its definitely met my expectations and then some. I was specifically interested in how to build an AI strategy and this delivered. I loved the engineering overview and the demos on the different models/engines to leverage. I would have liked to have had more time to absorb the concepts like maybe a week for each with additional on line modules to help ground the material. Also time for the CoHort to meet each other like a virtual meet up and easily connect maybe by adding everyone who would like to share their profile and contact I formation as part of the on-boarding process. I have already recommended to friends and colleagues and I look forward to further engagement, Thank you!!!

Getting to collaborate, discuss, and network with experts in various industries, all focusing on AI was beneficial and the availability of the expert AI teaching cohort was very encouraging. The ability to follow the course and then complete assignments in my own time was absolutely critical while founding an AI startup!

"We are a cybersecurity company. We are developing several AI systems within my company. We have already created a knowledge base for our sales and technical teams, a Voice AI on our website and Whatsapp to help clients ask questions and schedule a meeting with one of our specialists, an agentic AI system that scrapes the internet for relevant news and articles in our industry, crosses it with all our products and builds articles, podcasts, newsletters and one-pagers and then schedules it on our social media channels. The next goal is to have an AI system sit in our online meetings with clients, allowing it to answer technical questions when asked. It will also facilitate follow-ups and customer success processes, as it has access to all information about a specific account and can tailor the responses accordingly. And the AI personalization journey has been an interesting one, filled with high expectations and anxiety, as there is so much to learn and accomplish, and it feels like a race to the finish line. What surprised me most was how well the AI tutor performs and how dense the material is without wasting too much time for students. The program has been valuable for practical implementation."

I have been absolutely blown away by the Agentic AI course I have taken through Harvard Data Science Review and NextGen Learning. The caliber of the team is world class, having been assembled with some of the best minds in the space today. The integration of the world of ai into the class - use of avatars, generated, integrated summary drafts, proprietary ai that builds on my individual inputs has made the learning in this course beyond relevant and practical. For a senior executive and advisor, it is the right balance of in depth knowledge and true practical application to inform decision making at the executive team or board level. I look forward to taking more courses in this format!

My knowledge of ai was limited coming into the course however the HDSI program has greatly improved my knowledge base and comfort level. The strategy and framework structure is clear and provides a solid roadmap to execution. What motivated me to enroll in this course was the desire to deepen my understanding of agentic AI and its real-world applications, especially as I lead complex cross-functional projects across the U.S. and Europe. I was looking for a program that combined strategic thinking with practical tools—and this course delivered exactly that. My experience with the faculty and AI tutors has been exceptional. In my role as Business Representative at IATSE 891, I represent over 10,000 artists and technicians who are being deeply impacted by AI. I enrolled in this course to better understand the technology and its implications so I can strengthen our contract language around AI and ensure our members are protected. My goal was to gain a deeper, practical understanding of AI so that I can approach this rapidly evolving space with a human-centric lens, safeguarding jobs while also identifying ways to responsibly leverage the technology for the benefit of our members. The faculty’s depth of knowledge was outstanding, both accessible and incredibly diverse in perspective. Each instructor brought unique expertise and genuine passion for the subject matter, creating an environment that encouraged curiosity, discussion, and critical engagement with complex issues. The course pushed me to think critically and ethically about AI integration, beyond surface-level understanding. I developed a framework for analyzing real-world AI challenges, focusing on governance, bias, and accountability. Most importantly, I gained tools to translate those insights into practical, policy-based applications that can directly inform our union’s approach and advocacy work. I’ve already begun applying the knowledge I gained to our union’s communications and strategic planning. The course equipped me with both language and confidence to engage more constructively on AI issues. I’m seeing early results in stronger dialogue and growing trust among our members and leadership, shifting the conversation from fear toward understanding and empowerment. This is an exceptionally well-designed program led by true subject matter experts who are deeply committed to empowering their students. The course bridges theory and practice, meeting participants where they are while elevating their understanding to a much higher level. Whether you’re in a union, a business, health sciences, or education etc., the instructors help you discern not just how and when AI should be applied, but also when it shouldn’t. It’s a transformative learning experience for anyone looking to engage with AI thoughtfully and responsibly.

The faculty were fantastic, very approachable, and the AI tutors made it easy to explore concepts hands-on.
