LOVE these courses. "Performance, Software, and the Practical" as well as "Intro to Synthesis and Sound Design" are extremely helpful. I came in already having an understanding of the piano, but Ian's courses helped me expand my soundscape and cover the space I was lacking in a band context. Thank you!

Ian’s courses haven’t just taught me how to run a keys rig and make it sound AMAZING, but it also has allowed me to also be more creative and confidently make patches from scratch! Ian breaks down his teachings to where anybody from inexperienced to experienced players all can understand and take what they’ve learned and easily apply it like myself! Thank you so much Ian for giving me a literal guide on how to create excellent music confidently and with amazing tone, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ian's course was brilliant! I'd been trying to figure out how to get all my tracks into Ableton Live for live performance. His course is quick, concise and makes perfect sense. DO NOT pass up this or any of his courses!!

I really enjoy Ian's training videos. There really is something here for everyone - newcomers to the world of sound design, production and technique will find these videos easy to understand and seasoned pros will find tips and tricks that will help them become even better players. I can't recommend these enough!

Ian's "A-Z Live Tracks In Ableton" course has shown me the smart & practical way to prepare live tracks for a worship set that can follow the flow of where the service could go. Definitely check that course out!

Ian’s videos were a great start for learning synthesis. They were also very helpful for giving me ideas that have lead to my current rig. Can’t recommend them enough.

These courses are the real deal. I have been playing keyboards in churches for over 30 years, but knew very little about synth sound creation and tweaking sounds to fit the moment. I was simply using what was built into the hardware synths with no editing. This has changed it all for me....I now am able to play with more variety, and more importantly am able to serve the songs with what they really need, instead of simply playing the same piano and pads found in the keyboards. And, no matter what DAW you are using (I use Mainstage), these courses will take you keys to the next level. Ian has created real-world applicable instruction and examples that you can put to use right away.

I’ve long been a fan of the “sound” of Bethel Music, so to have these courses by Ian has been like pure gold! His passion for sound design and ease of understanding complex synthesis has made learning these concepts within reach. His synth patches are superb and I find myself reaching for these consistently above other “notable” synth sounds. Plus, I feel more confident creating my own sounds because of Ian’s courses. Can’t recommend anything from Ian highly enough!! You won’t regret it!

Ian gives very clear explanations and is great to learn synth/keys sound design from. But what I appreciate most is the depth of thinking he has given to what is really needed for worship music and how to achieve that across a range of hardware and software.

Ian's sound are top-notch, largely usable on almost any genre. If I need to make my tracks big, Ian's pads are my go-to! Also the lessons on running tracks is a big help! Thanks Ian!

Really new to using DAWs and sounds. Took Ian’s A-Z course. Ian does give you a few formulae but the explanations to understand the concepts are probably the most important to not just get started but I felt that the basics were broken down adequately for you to apply your own ideas and experiment.

Ian's courses are great! He really breaks down sound design in a way that works for beginners and pros alike. Also, he brings some out-of-the-box mixing ideas that end up working really well! I'm very pleased with the classes I've taken from him and look forward to more. Highly, highly recommend!

Ian's A-Z Live Tracks in Ableton course formed the foundation for our keyboard rig at church. I've used the concepts learned in this course to build and expand upon Ian's brilliant ideas and create an application perfect for our use case. Could not recommend Ian's courses enough - you will learn something from each video, guaranteed!

Hi everyone, my name is Japhet, I am 24 years old and I play keyboard in my local church since I was just a child. During my journey in music I have lived many stages, when I started in all this there was not so much technological development and access to modern equipment was very expensive. On the other hand, there were few people who were part of the music team: a drummer, a keyboardist, a guitarist and a singer. As you can see, there was no bass player, which left an important gap in our performances. Years passed and I started watching music videos of bands like Hillsong or Bethel and I noticed something curious. In all those videos the keyboardists had a computer in their sets. At first I thought they used it to view their notes or charts. But when I researched more about it I realized that they used it for more than just notes. All those keyboardists used their laptop to run software that played their sounds in real time. It blew my mind at the time because I didn't understand how it worked. So I got down to work and started looking for information on the use of laptops in music. I found some videos about MIDI and how it is possible to use a keyboard to control parameters in DAWs. So I bought a MIDI cable and a KORG nanokontrol and decided to give it a try. I started using it in the comfort of my bedroom and with the few resources I had at the time, I managed to put together a basic set, which consisted of a piano, a pad, a synth and some bells. It was a decent set, but I still didn't feel safe using it in a live performance. But soon after, the church hosted a night of worship and the leaders put together a list of modern songs. It was the perfect opportunity to test what he had learned so far. At the beginning it was difficult, since I was not used to playing chords and manipulating parameters in the software at the same time. But, the day of the event arrived and everything went relatively well, but above all I had fun like never before. All this motivated me to look for more about DAWs and digital instruments. But above all, how to use backing tracks for live performances. I heard many experts talk about their methods and everything was great, but I was looking for something very specific. A short time later I found a video of a guy named Ian McIntosh on YouTube explaining the method he uses in the band Jesus Culture (one of my favorite bands) And I immediately knew that this was exactly what I was looking for. So I decided to join Synth University and what I found on that platform was pure gold. From tips to live performances, musical production, how to set up a stable live set, digital instruments, behind the scenes of popular songs, and even resources to achieve good sounds. Ian has completely changed the way I see how music works. To create something complex from scratch. The versatility of Ian's method has allowed me to contribute greatly to the music of my local church. Now, we are able to play with backing tracks in a way that we have never experienced before, we do not feel tied to the sequence of the multitracks, but we are the ones who have control of it. And if there are no multitracks available, we can create them ourselves from scratch. Without a doubt, enrolling in Synth University has been one of the best investments I've made so far. If my story is similar to yours and you are looking for some way to improve yourself as a musician, Ian McIntosh and Synth University are the way to go.

I'm from Dominican Republic. I play piano/keys at church and have worked on some non-mayor worship proyects. For many years I had no idea what to do with all the knobs and parameters of the mayority of synths, both hardware and vsts. I just worked totally by ear. It used to take me a lot time to get the exact sound that I was looking for in many ocasions. Your courses on synthesis have opened my eyes and now I can get my sounds more quickly, and knowing what I'm doing instead of just rotating knobs randomly hoping for the best. It gives me confidence, and I feel I can serve God and the church more effeciently now through the music. Thank you for making your knowledge and experience available to me. God bless you.

Ian has created the most comprehensive courses to help worship synth players that I've come across plus access to proven sounds. He's also been accessible and gracious. I would not hesitate to recommend anything that Ian produces.

This was my first encounter with the keyboard world. I used to play piano 20 years ago, though. The course helped me a lot in many ways: how to use a DAW, how to get some ideas to compose, what steps to take to create a song. Ian's course is very well structured and easy to folow with lots of examples. I am very happy with everything I have learned and return to the course everytime I have guestions in what to do next.

Your videos helped me a lot to become keyboard player. I've learned so much from you about sound, tone, effects, different instruments, different techniques and many more. And also your patches gave me a real firm foundation to build my own tones. You did great work for the whole christian keyboard community. Thanks a lot!

Ian has been the pioneer on music tech training. He has accumulated a wealth of expertise since the times this information was not so readily available. Now a legion follow from his footsteps. In everyone of his courses he shares the wisdom that passes the test of time and will really make you a better performer & producer.

Well, I've never met Ian but through his ministry with Jesus Culture and some personal time with Synth University, Ian has helped me become a better musician, audio engineer & technician, and even basically record my own album. Ian is an unforgotten saint and I truly appreciate all of Ian's sacrifice for the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. When I play keys, I channel my "Inner" "Ian McIntosh". ~Wilton McKinley Glenn Will and the Word Music, Inc.

Ian McIntosh’s courses have been critical to my development as a producer, playback tech, and musician. I got into Ableton Live in 2018 to prepare for a trip where I would be guest worship leading at another church. With 12 days to learn and build a system out, I purchased the first of many courses by Ian and when my plane landed, I had a system in place, a clear understanding of how to build and run tracks while using a midi controller, and I was confident in my new skills. Fast forward to today and I’m about to start a job touring as a playback tech for some top-level international artists. None of this would be possible without the skills, ideas and techniques I learned through Synth University courses along the way.

Ian’s courses are very intuitive in a way he took the time to explain all the secret ingredients to his great music production and superb sound design. I always like to go back and review the lessons at my own schedule and glad to have purchased it. He helped improve my knowledge from playing keys to everything synths. Regarding his sounds, I always used it no matter what the genre. I just want to say he’s one of the greatest of all time.

I've taken Ian's original course, digital ninjas, as well as his newer course SynthU and I gotta say, Ian has a great way of explaining things in an easy to understand manner. While I don't play keys as my main instrument, he is solely responsible for helping my worship team's sound to the next level. Through the knowledge I learned, I was able to craft some killer sounds that my band mates and church loved! I highly recommend his courses and I don't think you'd be disappointed!

Ian was my first inspiration to get into worship keys, and his teaching was my first introduction to synthesis! I have grown so much from his skill as a teacher. Most of what I know and do has come from Ian's videos, workshops, and patches! I am the player and worshipper I am today because of his training. I am ever grateful!!
