I use this website every day as a part of my "news update". I have had too many friends and family members get sick (VERY SICK) from eating take out orders and in restaurants. I have watched food handlers not wash hands in the bathroom and going from one person's plate to another contaminating. Thank you to for all the work and effort you put into keeping people safe, informed and well.

I am a patient with multiple rare and chronic conditions. I am highly susceptible to complications when it comes to foodbourne illnesses. Using the FDAs med watch system is far too complex for quick reporting and the ability to easily check surrounding restaurants and stores. Using this service has saved me from getting sick so many times and when I've reported things when I did get sick, my local health department reached out to me too!! It's been an amazing service and helps people like me avoid things that could cause some serious health complications for us. I'm really happy with this service. Plus I like the safelyhq site too for other safety issues! It's really a much needed service that I don't know what I'd do without! Often times I find that this service alerts me faster to things nearby than any of the official outlets do and then sometimes a month later you find out there's a nationwide recall for something that I already dodged because of the reports here that alerted me way sooner! you guys provide such good info and it comes straight to my inbox. i dont subscribe to any other newsletters at all cause i just dont read that stuff. but i like getting your emails. thanks so much for all your wonderful service. so far i dont use any of the products youve warned me about, thankfully, but im able to share with others who might be. particularly the baby formula stuff.

I cook meals daily for my diabetic husband. We eat alot of salads. I am always paranoid that my romaine lettuce or spinach will have a recall on it. This website helps me stay current with the recalls in my area. I like receiving the alerts via email.

Having experienced some possible food poisoning from some cold food at a fast food place over a year ago I have appreciated the emails regarding other's experiences and notable recalls. Sometimes the stores do not even know that certain items have been recalled. This site has been very informative. Thanks for helping people be aware of possible outbreaks.

My husband and I are both enrolled to get your alerts, ideal with severe Crohn’s disease, and have had a colostomy and subsequent reversal. If I eat anything that is even the slightest bit tainted, it can put me in the hospital with me requiring another colostomy so my husband and I absolutely love looking at your page And whatever that you show whatever that is posted any comments anything that are made by the people who read your posts My Husband and I take it as 150% gospel. Recently I saw an alert about the meat in the charcuterie board tray. I forwarded to a cousin who found she had some of the product and promptly threw it out. I appreciate the alerts. Later, the product recall was shared, but it seemed slower than the Iwaspoisoned email/post. Thank you!

I found iwaspoisoned.com after tasting a carefully cooked Butterball Turkey breast which tasted off. My husband served me my Thanksgiving meal right away as he put his together. I told him "something is wrong with this turkey, and it's NOT your cooking (we ALWAYS use a meat thermometer). I think I just Googled "I got food poisoning from a Butterball Turkey breast" & many links popped up including yours. I signed up right away -- there were already reports of people getting sick from Butterball! Further research on the company sealed the deal. And they don't care, they are a cruel company, the turkeys are raised under unsanitary conditions & former staff spoke of how cruel some of the workers there are to the poor birds. I read all my "IWasPoisoned" alerts, forward many and have recommended your site to many people (one just a few minutes ago -- she can't wait to share with her husband)!. I’m a middle-aged man that woke up with intense symptoms typical of food poisoning and my single change in nutrition occurred last night when I ate French fries with ketchup. Both items had not been opened for use before then. I at much of both and then slept. This morning I awoke to intense abdominal bloating, pain, and burping. Heartburn hit later as I tried to work. By noon I only wanted to take some over-the -counter meds and lie down with my head at an angle. I went online to search for what my symptoms indicated and came across iwaspoisoned.com. Feeling out the form and submitting it gave me an outlet for my frustrating predicament. I didn’t expect much to come of it as my ordeal is but a single anecdotal experience. But 1 complaint can become one of tens, hundreds and thousands that may help prevent more suffering. It was wonderful surprise to get a kind and informative response that didn’t gaslight or patronize. Thank you! I’m still in bed, in pain and lacking in energy, so the seemingly human response was kind.

I experienced food poisoning from an avocado last year & reported it here on your site. Since then I have been receiving your email alerts on poisonings in our area and it has really opened my eyes on how frequently this happens. Also some of the products tainted were products me and my grown children use w/small children as well. I send this info to them which they find very helpful & have possibly averted a poisoning. As a busy Mom, I value this IWP Service to help guide me (& therefore my family) away from potentially harmful Food we would normally eat, either in our neighborhood or areas we've traveled. I also use this recource as a "jumping off" point for further research... IF I haven't heard of an illness or type of infection - I use info from here & go do more research. I was going through a rough time with the item I drank at wawa. Just wanted to make sure (if it truly was contaminated) no one else was going to make the same mistake. Upon submitting my own experience I was surprised to see all the different types of food that is being recalled and I currently purchase these items! It's very disappointing that it's not widely available and even broadcasted over the news channels for those who may have consumed something that is being recalled! I am a senior citizen who doesn’t always watch TV or have communication with many people because I live in a rural area. . I found your website a few years ago after I was the victim of food poisoning and looking for a possible source. I reported on your site, my experience, symptoms, and the location of the chain restaurant. I was glad to share this info so that possibly others could avoid what happened to me. Now, I regularly receive alerts from you, which I find helpful in avoiding certain products when they are being recalled because of contaminants. I definitely appreciate this service and I’m sure it has helped many people avoid or be aware of what’s happening currently regarding food borne illness Especially being a senior in a rural location where hospitals and care are further away. It turns out my food poisoning was caused by most likely spoiled oil used to fry french fries which fortunately was the only thing that I ate, and so I was able to pinpoint the exact cause. The restaurant in question had been cited previously for cleanliness and proper food storage protocol. So thank you for your service.

I’ve had food poisoning and I never want to experience it again . This service helps tremendously by giving me a heads up on the places where people have gotten sick in my area and recalls that have been announced that I may not have known about . It may not keep me from ever getting sick again ,but at least it can help keep me and my family informed.

The best thing about this service is that it alerts me of current recalls as well as places where others have gotten sick. I can then avoid those places and not buy those products.

Normally I wouldn't care but a few years ago my disabled daughter got horribly sick and we couldn't figure out why. It wasn't until we looked up things that we found recall on Lucky Charms. Needless to say cut it out and she got better. I have seen and bought several items that was reported for example the peanut butter. Now I read every single email. Check my products. I'm so grateful for their app, email, support for any questions asked. It is extremely comforting to know that iwaspoisoned is on top of everything. I am a person concerned about safety of food handling and processing. This service helps to warn us about entities that have recalls and unsafe food products. I wish that every person who has food poisoning would be encouraged to share on this platform and that the establishments would be held accountable if their food was deemed unsafe.

I frequent Publix...ALOT! There was no notice about the recall on Boar's Head deli meats posted when I went in a few weeks ago for my weekly sub. I mentioned the email your site sent and the deli worker was not aware while another one (wasn't making much sandwich) advised they were told about the recall in a morning meeting. I opted for the Publix brand deli meat and potentially saved myself a stomach virus. Thank you!!!

I am just a normal girl living a normal life when I got some gnarly food poisoning for 6 weeks. Since then I've used this website and it has helped me avoid one extra food poisoning incident!

My “event” happened on a Saturday night, and the county health department was closed on Sunday. So it was helpful to be able to report the event with all of details right away. And what I didn’t realize is that the local health department gets all of the reports to “iwaspoisoned”, so I didn’t have to wonder if the info was recorded officially, nor did I have to resubmit the data. The health department just called me with a few more specific questions, and that was it.

Thank you for the informed follow-up to my food poisoning report I submitted just yesterday (16 dec), very quick response. I've never gotten hit with this before. I'm a local NYC resident who loves bagels, surprise. Turns out my fav place was and has been a rat infested multi violation the years kind of place. And foolish me just thought the place had "character". Your site has good info, resources and that quiz thing that is great because going through that makes you feel more informed about the specific nature of what you got hit with. There are many versions of this apparently with some being more dangerous than others. So it was comforting to feel like I was getting better specifics for my particular situation. At first I was seeking info, I also wanted to report the bagel store. Even though the place had been shut down I wanted to let others know, find some way of knowing how many others has similar experiences there and wanted to have some impact on the store owner. Reporting to the NYC DOH was a joke. It goes into some vast bureaucrat black hole and due to "privacy concerns" you can't even get stats on how many other reports there may have been. So unsurprisingly, a bureaucratic dead end. I made several posts on Reddit and local news blogs but that's just glorified bitching. Thank you for providing a useful resource during a stressful experience in an otherwise Internet desert of black holes. Shut Taco bell down w. 95th Street. I get sick from just typing this. Drive thru Friday afternoon I after 430pm before 6pm ordered Taco box; two cinnamon tings. I ate the Doritos taco six hours later felt like I was dying the vomit was coming out like a damn cartoon. Not funny..... I'm taking the rest of this shit back and I'm getting my money. This is shameful. All theses damn places and lost their minds. I should have known the dum was empty. I don't eat Taco bell never ever.

I went to the Kahala McDonald’s and had a cheeseburger Happy Meal. Two hours later, I broke out in a cold sweat and felt nauseous. An ambulance was called. I was taken to the ER. The food gave me diarrhea. Was told I had food poisoning.

I’ve had food poisoning several times with fast food. I should stay away from them. It’s no fun. It’s amazing how many places are involved. What are they doing or not.

Hi! I am recently retired. I have reported one instance of food poisoning from a frozen meal product. Whenever I get an email from IwasPoisoned about cheese or sandwich meats, I check out refrigerator. One time I did find some recalled shredded cheese in our fridge. Due to reading all of the email reports, I now avoid all Chicken Tender meals & Boneless Chicken meals from fast food restaurants. I also avoid salad kits & uncooked bean sprouts. Also, I have learned symptoms of Listeriosis don’t appear for three weeks to 70days from the time one eats a Listeria tainted food. Thank you!

Keeping me informed about the different outbreaks of food poisoned within my area and in the United States. I had my first case of food poisoning in February 23, 2024, and it was horrible. And the sad part about, I was sick as hell, was out of town, went to a urgent care doctor the next day, in South Carolina and was treated. The morning of the 24th my sickness started, I could not keep water down. Afterward, It cause me all kind of illness in my digestive system. I new where I had eaten last, was out of town attending my 75th birthday. I live in Georgia, So when I got back home, I immediately reported it a sight about reporting food poisoning and my encounter and signed up to this sight. Then, 2-week later after I got back home my symptoms reoccured, which the urgent care doctor had said, might occur in my medical notes. And I should go to the ER for treatment. So then I made and appointment with my Digestive disease doctor, about the food poison. After I got back home from my trip to, I had check to see if there were others that may has gotten sick or food poison from the same place, Zaxby chicken salad, that's what I had eaten on that evening. I had reported to the urgent care doctor the other place where I had eaten that evening after eating the chicken salad from Zabxy's, and also agreed that's probably where I got it from.

Food poisoning twice at a BJs restaurant. 1. prime rib special. Husband ordered med. rare. Looked very rare, we should have turned it back. He got very sick. 2. Second chance I ordered a Philly Cheese sandwich. I was very sick. Reported it to BJ's both incidents. They refunded money, but cannot risk BJs again.

We are thankful of this service. Recently we ate at two places that were closed after we ate there. I know know not to eat out because you never know what is going on in the kitchen. People could be sick, food could be spoiled, people could not wash hands, etc. thank you for wishing us up. Home cooked food from now on!!

My family HATES that I subscribe to this. It's my guide to where we shouldn't eat or what we shouldn't buy and I quote it all the time. I find it so helpful, especially when I begin to see patterns in the same places or types of foods that make people sick. For the past couple of years, I hadn't been getting as many reports, and the few that I did never seemed to apply. It was usually specific products, usually unfamiliar to me or my local area, instead of places. But lately it's been giving me the information like I used to get and I'm so happy about it. Keep the reports coming, even though the rest of my family doesn't like it! :)

I think it’s about time people started talking about their foodstuffs in detail. Theirs a lot going wrong in our food industry. The chemicals used in highly processed foods are just one problem that’s helping with the nightmare of health issues we’re dealing nowadays.

I stalk this site all the time and before I eat anywhere, I type in the name of the place. I am surprised items at my local grocery stores have gotten people sick. I’m grateful to have this site and be well-informed. I tell everyone about this site. I suffer a vomiting phobia so I like to prevent and keep myself and my kids safe! However, I once tried to leave a report and I never saw it posted.

This is the best way to keep safe and alert to all things you buy at the markets and everywhere. It cost less than a trip to urgent care.

AVOID PRODUCTS WITH TBHQ chemicals as an ingredient. The three products I got sick after eating famous Amos chocolate chip cookies, cheez-its, and Kelloggs poptarts. I really want people, especially those with toxic chemical sensitivity to avoid foods with tbhq.

I'm very concerned with this new world business model, it's more dangerous now for Americans buying food grown in other countries .. my problem is yes it's edible mostly, and the buisness man makes lots of money, but they have concern for your life or mine, they do not care, why should they, they destroyed a country, your just 1 pea in a pod, or HERD as they call us....

El Super- Inglewood, CA purchased tamales on Thursday. Jan 25th, funny smell in reheating yesterday and today after consuming half a tamale, my spouse got violently sick and had cramps and severe diaherria. Will never buy tamales here again. Dangerous especially with older people.

Howdy! I believe I finally found the culprit causing my digestive problems. I have looked at all kinds of things online from food allergies to cancer. Been to the doctor a month ago when it all started, then again yesterday to no avail. My doctor did mention food poisoning. Couldn't think of anything. Went to the lab for bloodwork (still waiting for results) and a kit for a stool sample. This morning while I was eating my cereal and thinking and pondering, I suddenly thought, what do I do everyday? I have eaten a bowl of Lucky Charms every morning for the past year or so. I already changed all my dairy products to lactose free. Hmmm, I wonder if it could be the cereal? So I pulled up Lucky Charms on-line and OH my goodness there was a lot of info.. Apparently the FDA has been investigating 7300 cases of people nationwide getting sick from eating Lucky Charms. All the symptoms described matched my symptoms exactly. I had no idea it was the cereal. So out to the trash with the box of Lucky Charms. Tomorrow I will have eggs and toast. Hopefully my tummy issues will go away soon.

New Years Eve 2019 I ate at a restaurant I occasionally visit and got food poisoning. I am certain it came from the chicken. I couldn’t find a local agency that was open that time of year to report it. I didn’t want anyone else to suffer like I did and so I found this website.
