After doing Katie's behavior design, I felt very powerful.  I can actually get people to do things, and I know it works because I tested it out. 

When I implemented my 7-day plant-based challenge, I had 30 people sign up and 15 people actually go through with the whole challenge, and people had a lot of fun. Especially the competition piece. I was amazed to see even the biggest meat-eaters so determined to get to the top of the leaderboard. I saw how powerful these simple tools are for behavior change.

That's when I realized – gamification works! Climate action can be fun, and that is exactly what we need to create change. With these new tools, I feel more hopeful about the future and feel like the world is my oyster. 😀

For me, weaving and connecting different strategies into cohesive change frameworks was amazing. It removed a lot of the fear and gave me concrete steps for how to apply this work in the future.

Funnel design was completely new to me. Getting to explore things like landing pages and initial surveys was fascinating. We always expect people to “come to us” — but now I know how to be proactive!! I loved the experts you brought in. I can’t fit all of the ah-ha moments from those sessions into a sentence, but I’m pretty sure I had to turn my camera off a few times just to yell, “OH MY GOD. WOW.” at the ceiling.

Also, just personally, this has been such a fulfilling experience. I’ve been looking to learn about these topics for so much of my (short) career, and to find it all in one place has been incredible. Knowing that there are folks out there actually doing this work is also so meaningful — it gives me a path for the future.

Our journey with Katie was fantastic but, at the same time, daunting as she dissected what we'd developed from the ground up with a critical focus on improving long-term behaviour change. It required a healthy dose of humility as product designers to implement her recommendations, but the good news is the hard work is paying off. 

We're seeing users get through installation and setting up the App on their phones faster, with fewer support requests. More devices installed correctly, more data uploaded, more savings, and more delighted users. 

Katie is a world-class behavioural consultant. For anyone working in energy and water efficiency to drive behaviour change, Katie's Spotify podcast "How to save the world" is really worth a listen.

Katie Patrick is an expert on behavior change and breaks down complex topics in an easy (and fun!!) way. These workshops guide you through the steps to implement a program that actually gets people to change their behavior so that we can make climate action real.

It helped me see how behavior-change tools are like "ingredients in a recipe" we need to design, rather than hunting for the one silver bullet. 

I particularly love Katie's recent newsletter exploring the intersection of systems change and individual action. This is key for our students to understand.

I just did a pitch using your hero's journey for a funder. And it went so well. We got through to the next stage and now have 7 sites now composting on our programme :) 

I feel extremely confident now. I can't even remember how I felt before the Action Design School. I feel like we are in the bud stage and nothing can stop the serious flowering that will be happening soon.

It was an absolute pleasure to host Katie Patrick at the QLab Think Tank (Germany) in 2021, where she delivered an online lecture that left a lasting impression on our interdisciplinary team of young professionals.

Katie did an excellent job working with the elementary school children in my classes. She presented captivating lessons on the importance of designing a more sustainable, green, and beautiful world. She employed creative and visual elements, making her messages come alive for the children.

She's only been on my radar for about 48 hours, and already she seems to have answered so many of the climate communications conundrums we all seem to battle with.

Invaluable for change-makers looking to make real impact in communities through the use of government data. 

One cannot go through any of the steps without figuring out how to use civic data for doing good, and that’s a frontier all innovators, journalists, and startup founders should be very excited about.

Katie provided an engaging session and supporting learning materials to 150 Year 3-6 students, inspiring them to create their own Ecotopias. 

Katie’s introduced the students to complex ideas and supported this with effective visuals which encouraged the students to ask really great questions. The students’ created detailed Ecotopias using the kit of materials Katie had created for them. 

As teachers, we felt really lucky to be able to learn from Katie’s expertise, too.

The Earth Doctors Club has been a great way to get people engaged in environmental things. 

I think the way of giving kids rewards is a good idea since kids at my school always come and they do more environmental things since they get rewards. 

I feel like when you give people rewards, for example, the Earth plushie, the kids will do it more because it feels good to get rewarded.

We followed Katie's tutorials to build a perfect working community app with now more than 10k users. The techniques Katie describes are not only proven to have an impact, but they can also make your project a lot more fun. This material has opened our eyes to the fact that helping the planet doesn't have to be a chore.

Incredibly well-researched. Katie does the boring deep reading of peer-reviewed journals and synthesizes the behaviors that best enact change for a worthy goal.

 I found that all of these cognitive science tricks to making behavior change actually happen and measurable work in business and in other aspects of our personal lives. This podcast is incredibly valuable, as is Katie’s book.

She approaches problems with unique creativity applied methodically. She sees solutions upside down and in reverse.

Katie's book and workshops helped me in a way that 5 years of professional mentorships couldn’t touch.

Great presentation style. I especially appreciated the idea that sustainable change requires us to establish a metric for progress toward that change.

This is a very well-thought-out, detailed presentation of the material. My sense of digital design is far from sophisticated and I was extremely impressed to see the many ways that data visualization may be brought to bear on environmental and other sorts of information that I was not aware of. 

Maximizing measurable impact is one of the most important frontiers in the social impact profession right now, and Katie's workshop presents a detailed and well-thought-out process to follow to achieve that.
