The courses provided short and precise videos on critical aspects of biomimicry coupled with relatable case studies. I love how the course instructor also challenged me to think of ways to use the Biomimicry lessons in my field of interest. One of the most interesting things about Biomimicry is how it encourages sustainable innovation and design.

The Biomimicry Short Courses are absolutely inspiring, useful and provocative. 

The application of Nature-based solutions are limitless. The worldview we have transforms completely when diving deeper in to Life's principles and it fills us with hope of a regenerative and sustainable future by addressing the real causes, by asking the questions of how nature does a certain function and by leveraging the right points that can really transform the systems we have created that are degenerative by design.

The framework provides useful guidelines for personal, community and business applications using Nature as a model, measure and a mentor.

Talk with Jay Harman was the highlight for me from this year's Biomimicry Confluence. Fusion Bionic's concept of engineering nano-structured patterns in surfaces for various functional purposes and inspired by shark skins, butterfly wings, etc. was a new learning for me this year.

Learn Biomimicry are educational and promotional leaders in the field of Biomimicry and it was an amazing and eye opening experience to complete the full three course set 'Introduction to Biomimicry', 'Biomimicry Life's Principles' and 'Biomimicry Masterclass' with them. 

The course content is relevant, detailed, well-researched and contains present case studies that validates all the course principles into real life products and processes. 

It is clear there are global benefits of incorporating Biomimicry principles into action planning and management.

The Biomimicry Practitioner Programme has been a transformative experience for me. Before the course, I had a very basic understanding of biomimicry, but the deep dive into its principles and real-world applications has helped reshape how I think about problems, both in my personal and professional life. 

What I love most about biomimicry is its focus on nature as a model for innovation. It's fascinating to see how the solutions we are looking for in design, business, etc. already exist in the natural world, and this course taught me how to look at nature not just as an inspiration but as a teacher. 

Now that I have completed the course, I'm really excited to apply biomimicry principles to my work in sustainability, and in my personal life. What I love most about biomimicry is its gentle, non-violent approach to problem-solving. When people engage with nature as a mediator, they open up in ways they never would otherwise. It’s magic—especially in conflict-resolution workshops, where deep emotions surface in a way that feels safe and natural. And in the latest book I co-authored with my friend Julien Leyre we investigate how ecotones foster innovation: so biomimetic! Biomimicry is woven into every part of my life. In fact, it probably always was—I just didn’t have the words for it before. Now, I do. And with its principles as my compass, I navigate my projects with clarity and purpose.

The Biomimicry Confluence was a thrilling experience to me.

The presentations were very interesting, each by a passionate person. I had that feeling that all that I listened to had a strong purpose, and they shared that with us, their drive. That made their presentations special. They spoke from the heart. I especially liked Jay Harman's presentation, as he talked about the foundation of everything and creativity and peace of mind. The ultimate inventor. 

 I liked the Biomimicry Confluence in general, the people, the conversations, the incredible depth of knowledge and passion each shared. It was very inspirational and I cherished each moment of being there. Thank you so much to Jess, Ali and Rebecca for creating such a wonderful conference.

The Biomimicry Educator Programme changed the way I approach my 6th-grade science curriculum. The structure of the program was concise, clear, and organized. The format for resources and submitting work was clear and easy to access. Over the course of the six months, I reworked the focus of my science standards to include WHAT we can learn FROM nature in order to solve current issues. This focus gave us a timely, tangible reason to learn the material from the processes of the water cycle to the physics of wind, air pressure, and elevation. Online courses can often be bogged down by too many working platforms and resource locations, but the process for accessing work was easy.

The monthly meet-ups, with the potential for more as needed, we instrumental in seeing how others were working, solving problems, and thinking. Jess and the team are very positive, understanding of life as it leads, and understand that we are in the beginning of a learning process.. and by no means the end of one. I also appreciated the open-ended approach for determining HOW you want to engage with the concepts. Most teacher-training programs have an end in mind for you.. this programme supports your individual ideas, and helps you engage with the principles of biomimicry as your guide, and not someone else's preconceived notion of how you should engage with the material. From day one, I applied the biomimicry principles directly to my classes in real-time. I felt supported in this "jump off the cliff" strategy, which allowed me to feel safe experimenting. This is just the beginning of my Biomimicry journey, and I'm excited to continue on with collaborators I've met, and ideas I've discovered. My classroom and curriculum will never be the same.. and I feel as if I'm producing solutions for our time, rather than miring my students in the daunting weight of what still needs to be done. Biomimicry offers current, and future solutions that add an element of hope and resilience to the intersection of human behaviour and natural systems. I'm grateful for this course and all I learned. I'm excited to see what others develop as well, moving forward.

I have found learning about Biomimicry very inspiring. It opened my eyes to the hidden wealth of knowledge that we can learn from nature and the great opportunity that this provides.

My name is Cam, I'm a Liberal Arts Student in Guatemala. The last 3 years I've been exploring topics such as Design and Sustainability. Therefore, studying Biomimicry was the logical next step to me, to create a connection between those two worlds. 

Throughout the course the team at Learn Biomimicry supported me and challenged me to get to new insights throughout all my journey. This course helped me to improve my skills in design and learn how to evaluate my design against the life principles to use it as a sustainability checklist.

Hi, I’m Cheryl Spector, an Architect and Built Environment Ecologist based in Denver, Colorado, USA. My career has always been a journey searching for how to have a positive and regenerative impact between our built environment and our natural environment, including the impact on the health of humans that occupy these built environments. 

As a leader in sustainability, I often thought we had found a good process, design, materials, or manufacturing; however, I found that most of these were not working as well as we need. I left “sustainability” and jumped into the practice of biomimicry, where I found the most amazing natural mentors!

Although I got my first certification in biomimicry a decade ago, Learn Biomimicry's Practitioner Program was ideal for me, providing the structure and encouragement to pursue one of my innovative ideas that I had not been able to move forward with until completing this program.

The Learn Biomimicry Practitioner's course has been an amazing experience, opening so many doors in various dimensions. - Engaging with both the Learn Biomimicry community and individuals beyond its bounds provided rich insights into diverse perspectives on nature-inspired solutions. 

Throughout the course, I gained a deeper understanding of the distinctions between biomimicry, biomimetics, bio-utilization, and biomorphism. This comprehension is pivotal as we transition towards a future driven by genuinely sustainable innovations, motivated by a desire for real change rather than need to follow policies. 

Although there could have been more constructive criticism and not only unwavering support, the monthly calls during the course allowed for interesting discussions where we continuously learned from each other. - For me, the course seems to be designed more for the ‘intuitive’ applications of biomimicry such as products and materials. However, the mentors can also help you to dive deeper on the more metaphorical biomimicry examples. 

I was already convinced about the importance and efficiency of biomimicry and I think this course is a great way to bring biomimicry to those that need convincing. It would be a great exercise for a team looking to bring new ways of thinking into their meetings. Biomimicry thinking is not merely a skill but a mindset essential in all industries. As I embark on my journey as a strategic consultant, I will regularly be looking back at my report and course notes in order to integrate this approach into my daily practice and share it with my colleagues.

The Learn biomimicry Practitioner Programme was an amazing experience where the team and mentors taught me so much emphasizing on the Ethos and Emulation process in Biomimicry - which allowed me to reconnect with nature and the actually apply biomimicry to mayor challenges we face due to climate change such as the sargassum challenge. 

My mentor's feedback guided me through the emulation process of translating the biology to the design and incrementing my creativity by following their guided process and structure which worked so well towards creating the final innovative designs inspired by nature. 

I am so grateful to be part of the biomimicry community that Learn biomimicry offers and look forward to putting biomimicry into practice in future projects as well as the continuation of my designs that tackle the Sargassum Challenge in the Dominican Republic as well as in other projects integrating AI, Medicine and Biomimicry in my organization, MD Biomimicry.

Overall, the Biomimicry Confluence was a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us that by working together and drawing from the wisdom of the natural world, we can create a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

On behalf of the Biomimicry Granada team, it has been a real pleasure to participate in the Biomimicry Confluence - filled with amazing talks and opportunities to connect with people working on the same field. 

 In Biomimicry Granada, we try to incentivise the use of biomimicry both in education and businesses. We really enjoy seeing the spark in people when they get in touch with this mindset for the first time! It really is a tool of change.

Despite lacking a scientific background, I found the Biomimicry Confluence to be remarkably inclusive and captivating. The facilitators asked thought-provoking questions during breakout sessions. The session durations, topics, and speaker selection was well designed. Being surrounded by such intelligent, optimistic, and thoughtful individuals was truly a privilege.

Two days and 40 countries represented, filled with countless thought-provoking conversations and collaborations continue to expand and deepen with each day!

The Biomimicry Confluence was truly diverse and the pioneers of the field took us through the actual innovative work done and being done in the field of Biomimicry. 

My area of research and work is in the field of SDGs, environment development, climate change and also see them through the lens of Psychology, Sociology, Botany, Ornithology and other natural sciences. 

I have been active in learning about nature but biomimicry and Janine's book a few years back led to the Aha moment for me, and since than I have been immersed in learning more from nature and about biomimicry applications. Learning biomimicry through the three courses of Learn Biomimicry made me come in contact with the actual working of the fascinating subject and also briefly with Claire Janisch.

I enjoyed every aspect of the Biomimicry Practitioner Programme, it was well-developed and easy to understand. The course gave enough information to allow room for growth. The guidelines were simple, the Learn Biomimicry mentors were very skilled and knowledgeable. My sincere appreciation goes the biomimics team for putting these brilliant learning materials together. I oversee the implementation of the Climate Smart Agriculture Project and this course has been relevant in aligning my project to especially the sustainable energy solutions where we are integrating use of cow dung waste for biogas production, adopting Solar for agriculture production and efficient energy cooking solutions like energy savings stoves. These are all connected to and use principles of biomimics which I have had chance to understand more clearly. As this course comes to an end, I just wanted to add a section to personally thank each and every person in the Learn Biomimicry Team. 

This course has been fascinating to be a part of and it has reminded me of how perfect nature is. I have made mistakes but with your help and guidance, I have made it to the end. In this project, I wanted to prove that Biomimicry Life Principles could be applied to a current workplace issue where the goal is not to ‘create something new’ or ‘create something extraordinary’ but simply to improve on a current design and make it cheaper. 

My mindset was, “If I could apply Biomimicry Life Principles to something as simple and uncomplicated as this, then I could apply it anywhere, despite how simple or complicated the challenge may be. I am proud to say that, despite my inability to prototype this design and bring it to a tried and tested conclusion, I have still achieved my goal. 

So again, thank you to each and every one of you for creating/teaching this course! I am extremely grateful!

The experience I had with the Biomimicry Educator Program of Learn Biomimicry has changed my way of thinking in a way that no matter how many potential solutions nature provides; we can divide (based on the context) and conquer to reach out to the best fit solution to our challenges.

There are so many good things going on in the world that you don’t always hear about. Well, I am here to tell you that Learn Biomimicry is at the top of my ‘wonderful and powerful’ list. Wildest imaginations and journeys my fellow humans! Hop on board this fast-moving knowledge and awareness train....it is life-changing and you will love the ride...seriously...I loved every minute of every assignment, rabbit holes and all!

The Biomimicry Practitioner Program was an amazing experience for me. It helped me to connect the different dots in my design life into one picture and gave me a direction I have been looking for a long time. I have discovered great people and a great community. I got a lot of knowledge of how to use the Biomimicry Life Principles in design. 

This program helped me to organize my work and gave me a clear direction in my innovation job - it is a big step forward as I have discovered how innovative nature is and that is an unlimited source of inspiration. 

The assisting team was super friendly and helpful. They gave me a lot of input during my studies and they supported me in the difficult moments of the project. The atmosphere was great and the vibe was super positive. I am looking forward to introducing the biomimicry principles in my Design community and encouraging them to get deeper inside this amazing topic where a lot of inspiration is to find.

The Biomimicry Practitioner Programme promotes learning from nature to create more sustainable human designs. It inspired me to look at the world through a different lens. 

It was an excellent course with well-defined and applied biomimicry concepts, tools, and principles to create biomimetic designs. I learned to apply nature’s design principles, strategies, functions, and patterns to my design to create human-made designs.

The team is so knowledgeable and never failed to give me a nudge to dive deeper into the research. Designing with the Biomimicry Life’s Principles in mind definitely inspired me to continue my biomimicry learning journey and incorporate nature-inspired design into my daily life.

The Learn Biomimicry Practitioner Programme was a phenomenal learning journey which allowed me to dig deeper into the intriguing world of Biomimicry. 

I found the videos and learning materials to be extremely illuminating and they got me thinking about how to learn FROM Nature. The instructors are supportive and knowledgeable, and just awesome people to interact with and learn from, with the group check-ins very useful and inspiring to hear from others around the world and see their creativity. 

Claire Janisch was (and continues to be) a game-changer who managed to leave a lasting legacy through the Biomimicry Short Course Set and the mentors she's influenced. I cannot recommend this programme highly enough!

This was a fantastic biomimicry short course set. I research and teach the philosophy of biomimicry and have just published a book on the subject, The Biomimicry Revolution: Learning from Nature how to Inhabit the Earth. Having spent 8 years researching biomimicry pretty much full time, I still got a lot out of this course!

Let me start off by thanking the Learn Biomimicry team for curating this beautiful concept of training biomimicry educators to promote biomimicry and upskill what it can do to the benefit of the world. 

The program was intense, with lots of learning on the concepts, the processes and the ways we could curate the program for the students we are working on. It also gave us an opportunity to network with cohort colleagues from across the world and gave different perspectives on the way Biomimicry can be taught to various age groups. Would love to be connected for longer with the team to learn more. 

Without a doubt, I would recommend the Biomimicry Educator Program to anyone who is interested in teaching the concept of biomimicry.

The biggest master is nature. Biomimicry is a perfect way to listen to this master, for creating a healthy thriving living way to save the planet from our "civilized" way. From eco-nomic thinking to eco-logical thinking

For me, this is what Biomimicry is all about - keep learning and changing for the good. Nature's model of evolution keeps changing and adapting for the better and getting the most out of the available resources. 

Everything that nature creates is the most that can be done from it without any harmful effect on its neighbours while the neighbours are quite the opposite. Nature's resources, learning, and the treasure that it has for the past few billion years are free. We just need to respect and reach out for it. 

We, being part of nature have to follow its rules and act accordingly to thrive.

After 6 months of an immersive learning experience with the Learn Biomimicry team, I would admit all my five senses have gained a new perspective and appreciation of the natural world surrounding me. The systematic methodology employed for learning biomimicry through my chosen project challenge helped me assimilate the concepts quite well. 

The "Challenge to Biology" approach was made very intuitive through the monthly check-in discussions with my cohort and the challenges from my mentor group were the icing on the cake during the programme. After a couple of decades in the management and tech consulting profession, I was accustomed to the famed MECE framework for problem-solving (that typically pushes for outcomes benefiting a single party - the payor mostly). The practice of biomimicry involves understanding and then applying nature's tried and tested (through 3.8 billion years of evolution) circular problem-solving methods and systems design principles, and considering the benefit to all stakeholders from any solution. 

This gave me a new way of looking at everyday challenges around me and how natural models exist that have solved similar problems much before humans. Am grateful to the experienced team of mentors that helped me along my learning journey. I intend to take forward my learnings from this unique programme and try to refine and pilot my design for a sustainable urban food-growing ecosystem over the coming year. I also intend to use biomimicry alongside my data & technology background to solve other societal and business challenges around me. 

Biomimicry has hereon become an integral part of my life.

The Biomimicry Short Course Set provides a solid foundation for any biomimicry enthusiast! I am hooked, and will be looking out for opportunities to learn more!

Initially, I went into Mechanical Engineering in the hope of pursuing Biomimic Engineering since there was no degree for it at that time. The Biomimicry Short Course Set is exciting as now I am learning how to apply what I love (being nature) to what I have studied. Thank You and I am excited to learn more.
