This book is a very powerful guide for all Salesforce Admins. This is a guide to improve your admin skills, and at the same time improve your health and wellness. Jody demonstrates ways to improve your performance and create a fan base among management and employees. She tells you how to ask the right questions and avoid wasted work. Let's bring solutions to problems instead of taking orders at the window. There are some very powerful sales and communication concepts that you would need to go to some very expensive weekend courses to get, and you get all this in one book. I definitely recommend this book to Supercharge your career.

As an experienced admin, I found ideas that can help me up my admin game. The suggestions provided offer something for brand new admins as well as the seasoned pro, no matter how many certifications they hold. I highly recommend this book to all admins, product managers, and consultants.

This book is an incredible resource for new admins transitioning with little to no experience in a business environment. Concise and fun to read, Jodi does a wonderful job of explaining the Ownership mindset and its importance, how to build your reputation as an expert and trusted advisor, and how to subsequently manage the added flood of requests that will ensue. The book's chapters are compact and manageable. All but 2 are under 20pages, full of practical advice and anecdotal stories; broken up with useful talk tracks to help you ask questions that drill straight to the heart of important business needs with your stakeholders, pro tips to help you maneuver early career headaches and pitfalls, and occasional "Do's and Dont's" of strategies you will implement. Jodi gives an honest appraisal of the many "hats" you will wear, which gives insight to the soft skills you will be wise to hone. Bring your hilighter(s) because you will come back to this book as a reference, and as you reread it you will learn even more!

Pure wisdom! Priceless resource! The nuggets are identified throughout as Pro Tips, Talking Tracks (outstanding series of questions to ask), and Cautions ⚠️. I'm thinking of it as a personal "go to" manual while learning the many facets of this role. In my opinion, this book is a functional must have!

When you are Covid stricken and isolated what could be the best resource to learn?
For me it’s Jodi Hrbek book Rock Your Role as Salesforce Admin. 📕
This book tells more about her two decades Salesforce journey, how she acquired expertise and how she managed to train peeps.
The book doesn’t talk about Salesforce configurations but tells us the right ways to handle orgs and business needs.
To simplify the understanding the book tells us how to utilize the analytics capabilities, later on explanations with sample scenarios.
The book very well enhanced my understanding of product management and how to deal with problems in different teams.
Now I understand Jodi Hrbek, why you said that a Salesforce Admin needs to wear different 🎩.
Must read book peeps.
Grab your copy.
Thank you Jodi for sending me the wonderful book it is definitely helping me learn from your experience.
My learning continues..

I added this book to my Kindle library yesterday and let me tell you, this is game changer for Salesforce Admins / Business Analysts. I’ve only read the first chapter and part of the second one. I’m hooked! Jodi Hrbek nailed this one!

Simply put, this book is an indispensable resource for anyone who is new to a Salesforce role. Admins are clearly the target audience, but the author’s insights will prove equally useful to consultants, business analysts, and developers. The Talk Tracks (sample questions to use when working with stakeholders) are worth the price of admission all by themselves!

Get the book and learn how to stand out, add value to any organization, and become indispensable. #salesforce #salesforceadmins

I took a while to read this book because I kept taking notes and marking pages for later reference. This book is a professional guide to setting expectations and saving yourself long nights and weekends working. Each chapter has some great nuggets from Jodi's experience and she includes many "talk tracks" to help you to phrase what is being asked of you. I highly recommend this book to anyone new to the Salesforce Administrators role.

I am six chapters into this book. There are so many little tricks and tips for new and seasoned admins. The big aha picture I'm getting from this book is communication is so important. Asking the tough questions to stakeholders can be scary and intimidating for some admins. We want to always say yes to everything. Jodi Hrbek has some talk tracks in the book that are gamechanger. Quote from the book " Make sure your boss understands precisely what's involved with keeping the lights on and all projects and initiatives you're completing". This seems like common sense but when you are in the middle of the grind you might forget all that you do. Documentation is key. #salesforce #admin # #communication

I am preparing to start my first Salesforce Admin job in two days. This is going to be a valuable resource that I will refer to often. Much of the advice and tips offered apply to roles beyond a Salesforce Admin. Despite using about 25 colorful tabs to mark important sections, I also went through two highlighters. You will not be disappointed with this purchase!

Not many books seem to be written truly from the outlook of a Salesforce Admin, but this recent release by Jodi Hrbek sure is. It spans from ideas of commonly used hard skills to examples of soft skills that could help. Rock your Role as a Salesforce Admin covers a wide range of topics. Two that resonated with me were chapter 14, focusing on remembering to take care of yourself and remembering to remove unnecessary apologies. If you know you want to be an admin and like to read, this should be your second book when joining the ecosystem after the Salesforce Career Playbook.

Every new hire on my team receives this book. Why? Because it teaches the "art" of Salesforce. Trailhead, accelerators, certifications are great for learning the the "science", but without the "art", you are only half a Salesforce Admin. This book helps you navigate the business and understand how to control in the chaos we all live in everyday. The practical advice in here will elevate your Salesforce Career to a whole new level. A must read!

This book not only shows you how to be a Salesforce Admin rock star technically. It also shows you how to ROCK it by asking the most important questions, in a lot of common scenarios, but also rare one-offs. I enjoyed the book and quickly read it cover to cover. However, I know that I will keep going back to it when I need to answer questions on my own. It will be an incredible resource for anyone that "does Salesforce". #ohana

"Rock your Role as a Salesforce Admin: Create Value, Calm the Chaos, and Supercharge your Salesforce Career" by Jodi Hrbek helped me to decide whether Salesforce System Administrator role is for me or no! It allows the reader to be in the driver's seat and experience a day, a week and even a month in the role of a Salesforce Admin. I love the suggested Talk Tracks, Dos and Don'ts, Pro Tips, Caution! A Calm- the- Chaos- Caveat sections. The book helps the reader to overcome the imposter syndrome and roll the sleeves up and get into the nitty gritty requirement implementations. Jodi Hrbek's writing style is very entertaining while enabling the reader to dive deep into the role and guiding him/her to overcome the obstacles and celebrate the small and big wins. I greatly appreciate the time that she has devoted to write this book to help new Admins to thrive in the Admin's role!

📚 Just finished a fantastic chapter (4) from Jodi Hrbek's book "𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦 𝘈𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘯"
Her advice so far has been incredibly helpful in guiding my process during the #TalentStacker Experience Project and as I lead a group of admins implementing a #Salesforce org for my landscaping job.
Here are 5 takeaways that really stood out to me:
1️⃣ Franchise Management Scenario:
Hrbek's examples are always great. She demonstrates the importance of understanding stakeholder needs, asking the right questions, and proposing alternative solutions to best address their requirements.
2️⃣ Pro Tip on Documentation:
Hrbek highlights the importance of documenting technical pros and cons of alternative approaches, providing valuable context for future admins and yourself when similar questions arise.
3️⃣ Bonus Features:
Hrbek emphasizes the value of adding "bonus features" to a solution to improve usability and exceed stakeholder expectations, as showcased in the demo for Gwen in the Franchise Management Scenario.
4️⃣ Customizing Salesforce:
The book's discussion on whether or not to use leads functionality offers a practical example of the importance of understanding unique business needs and customizing accordingly.
5️⃣ Encouraging Stakeholder Feedback:
Hrbek advocates for fostering a collaborative environment, being open to exploring additional ideas, and adapting solutions based on stakeholder input.
I particularly appreciated the example on whether or not leads functionality is always necessary. It guided me and my landscaping admin team to make better decisions in our implementation process. I want to minimize friction with my end users as much as possible.
Shoutout to my fellow book group members: Vera, Martina, Kathy, Stephanie, Kim, Sushin, Arundhathi, Esmail, Tony, Ivy, Mina, Minca, Seabron, ☁️Malcolm, Christina, Jackson, & Niquisha - what were your key takeaways from this chapter? Let's keep the discussion going!

While there may be no cure for the dreaded "imposter syndrome" that many new admins wrestle with, there is at least one book that makes this trailblazer breathe a little bit easier about moving into my first Salesforce role. That book is none other than Rock Your Role as a Salesforce Admin by Jodi Hrbek. I'm only up to chapter five, but the value is undeniable. It sets you up with insights on ways to avoid burnout, asking quality questions, and how to be more than an order taker, just to name a few. This book will undoubtedly be like having a mentor in your back pocket, and with being new to the ecosystem myself, it couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you for this Jodi... It means a lot and I appreciate you sharing your years of wisdom in the Salesforce ecosystem.

Training and certifications are good and a must, but they do not teach you how to think like a Salesforce Admin and be an admin in the true sense. This is where Jodi's book fills in the gap and opens your mind to think like a true Salesforce Admin!!! Admin's role as Jodi says is not always under the hood in Salesforce. An admin plays a lot of different roles under the title of an admin. Jodi's illustrations, examples, explanations, the whys, the whats, and the hows are concise and easily digestible, and relatable to anybody, Salesforce or not. I highly recommend this book to anybody who aspires to be an Awesome Admin!!! or just Awesome!!! Everybody has something to take away from it. Thank you Jodi for such an amazing book.

This book is an amazing resource for any Salesforce professional, whether you're new to the game, or you've been here for years. Admittedly, I'm fairly new, but this book has given me invaluable insights with Jodi’s 20-year experience. She shares questions to ask to your users and stakeholders, real-world advice, and scenarios—and she wraps it all up in easily accessible language and pop-culture references (including the Winchester Mystery House that literary made my chuckle and made my husband look at me). One of the things I admire the most, other than her general writing style—which is amazing—is that in the introduction she not only explains what the book is, but also what the book ISN'T. You can enter the book with open eyes, knowing full well what to expect. People won't read it and be disappointed that it isn't a walkthrough. I highly recommend this book to anyone to anyone within the ecosystem. There's a reason so many people rave about it. Buy it, read it, use it as a reference. Get those sticky notes and flag the tips that speak to you. I did. I start a new job soon and even started reading it again. It's that good.

The amount of value that this book brings to Salesforce Admins is absolutely incredible. The concepts, layout, and progression of the material was well-thought out and delivered. I plan on implementing many (if not all) of the tips and recommendations found throughout the book. Thank you, Jodi— for creating and sharing your experience and knowledge to help admins thrive in their careers!

My background is 16+ years as a hands on user and trying to pivot into being an admin or BA, so purchased this book not really knowing what to expect. Just a few chapters in and have already found some really useful information, so excited to have found this book and think it is going to be so helpful to me as I make this pivot.

This week I flew for the first time in over 10 years!
I was excited to take advantage of the time that I had to finally read Jodi Hrbek’s book!
Chapter 1 “Having an Ownership Mindset” really set the stage and hyped me up. It is a mindset that I feel is so important and I have spend many years modeling and teaching to my students.
This book is full of hypothetical and real-life scenarios, along with strategies to tackle them. It is like having a mentor in your pocket!
I still have a few chapters to finish, and definitely see myself looking back to this resource in the future.

Finished reading the book “Rock your role as a Salesforce admin” by Jodi Hrbek. The book was an eye opener once I completed it. This book seemed like a relief since, as Salesforce administrators, we occasionally have a tendency to overburden ourselves with tasks that aren't really priorities. I had the impression that I was speaking with a mentor. This book provided me with a unique yet fresh perspective on the role of a Salesforce administrator. I appreciate you writing this Jodi Hrbek . I hope we have the opportunity to read more of your writing and benefit from your experiences.

Like other reviews have mentioned, Trailhead will teach you the technical skills but this book is a great compliment for the soft-skills and how to manage expectations that you will need as an Admin or Consultant. I really appreciate how the book is written, definitely lays out the pain points that a Salesforce professional can go through their day-to-day. Some of the things I appreciate in the book are the Sample Scenarios and Talk Tracks to spark ideas and immediate actionable steps that a Salesforce professional can use and have better conversations and manage "personalities" of people we work with. Thank you for expanding my job skills!

Jodi is a rockstar when it comes to knowing how to ask the right questions and how to deliver what the customer needs, so it's no wonder that she we would right an amazing book to pass that gift on to others. Whether you're just starting out with Salesforce or you've been an admin for 16 years (like me), there is something to learn in this book.

This book is an excellent choice for Salesforce Administrators or Consultants at various levels in their careers to have as a resource in their toolbox. It’s a go to resource to help guide those trying to figure out next steps when starting a project or best practices when already managing an org for a business. Jodi provides some wonderful insights and examples from her years or experience in various roles she has held throughout her career to help the reader understand and utilize as a template for their particular need.

Jodi makes a powerful case that the role of “Salesforce Administrator” is a key person in a company’s overall success using Salesforce. This is contrary to popular thought of the Admin role as that of a Salesforce change request “order taker”. The book is a playbook for how Salesforce Admins can embed themselves into business process creation and management—and get a seat at the decision-making table in the process. The book even includes written scenarios (very true to life) with scripts for how each role in Salesforce enhancement request process plays out. For anyone with Salesforce admin skills who wants to extend beyond the mold and grow their own personal Salesforce value proposition, you will find Jodi’s book a trusty companion in your journey.

Thankyou Jodi Hrbek, for this wonderful book. I had a copy of your book which I read half way through then I receive this copy from you which is my cherished one, will be reading the rest this week. It broadened my perspective on #Salesforce, the power of the platform, the environment, the ecosystem, asking right questions and the mindset for new administrators and existing administrators in the industry. For those who still haven't got your hands on this book, please do get it.

I’ve been waiting on this one to drop, and I just ordered my copy! I’ve planned it as my #DF22 travel reading, but I may have to dip in before then!
Jodi Hrbek brings so much value to the Salesforce ecosystem. She’s an admin champion with 20+ years of experience, frequently posts valuable content, is active in the community as a speaker, and my favorite—is supportive, encouraging, and engages!
I’ve heard Jodi speak on two different podcast episodes and 10/10 recommend those as well, Supermums - Mums on Cloud Nine podcast with Heather Black and Talent Hub Talk with Ben Duncombe (Apple podcast links in comments).
Thank you Jodi for the value that you bring. Excited to dig into this one!

As a newly certified Salesforce Administrator, this book made a great book club read. During the process of studying for certification, several of us got together to discuss Rock Your Role over several months. The book had a lot of great insights that prepared us well for our future positions. We've been passed wisdom that will help us start with the right processes and habits rather than learning everything the hard way.

Geren Woodbridge excellent reminder. A strategy I have used successfully is to combine my technical development learning with personal development.
When driving hard towards a technical learning objective, sometimes I pivot to material that is softer and valuable laterally beyond the specific technical domain. It’s my rejuvenation strategy.
Then I re-engage with my technical learning activities.
An example of how I used this strategy. Recently I was looking for resources to add to my learning material that was technically valuable as a growth objective for me. I discovered Jodi Hrbek’s book. I added it to my kindle library. I power read it in entirety in a few days. I discovered it’s value was not only technical, there was a dearth of soft skills knowledge and it’s applicably was beyond the SF admin role.
Often I’m using different sources for soft skill development and technical learning. It’s rare that I find it in one source.
I’m completing my second read of this amazing resource.

A few fun "Firsts" 🤗...
My First Kindle!
(Thanks Amazon Prime Day! I didn't know I could love such a simple gadget so much. ❤)
My First Book on My First Kindle!
"Rock Your Role as a Salesforce Admin" by Jodi Hrbek.
I nicknamed it, "The Heads Up, 7 Up!" book because Jodi gives you a heads up of what to expect in real-world Salesforce scenarios. There is a clear difference between Salesforce book knowledge and Salesforce street knowledge.
My First Nugget from My First Book on My First Kindle!
(of many nuggets, but this one stood out to me.)
Those little checkboxes in Salesforce seem so innocent and helpful, but are they really the proper solution? One major caveat, you don't know if the user has intentionally left it unchecked or not.
If you don't have a Kindle and Jodi's book in your life, I recommend bringing them into your life!😉

I highly recommend Jodi's book for Salesforce Admins everywhere, from beginners to people who have been in this role for a while. I also feel their colleagues and leaders will benefit from understanding more about how to collaborate with and empower Salesforce Admins to thrive with their gifts of adding value for their organizations!! I've been in the Salesforce ecosystem for over 7 years, and I would have loved having this book to guide me as a solo Salesforce admin then. As a Salesforce Architect and Admin today, I love Jodi's book for many reasons. First, Jodi has an impressive style of conveying knowledge in fun, applicable, and encouraging ways! Second, I appreciate how Jodi guides Salesforce Admins through various responsibilities, decisions, and conversations; with this guidance, Salesforce Admins can apply continuous learning, curiosity, knowledge, and skills. Third, Jodi dives into practical ways to thrive at the intersection of adding value for people (where the soft skills mentioned throughout the book are key) and technology. Fourth, I enjoyed Jodi's ideas and expertise for how to supercharge this role where Salesforce Admins who often juggle a lot of expectations, possibilities, priorities, and tasks. Lastly, I am grateful for various refreshers and new ideas as I continue my journey.

I started reading Jodi Hrbek ‘s Rock Your Role as a Salesforce Admin book. I can highly recommend it to my peers who wants to know what “adding value” looks like for Salesforce professionals.
100% support having an ownership mindset as discussed in chapter 1. I agree, it has nothing to do with our title, rank, or number of certs. 😉

In an effort to get back to "I am a reader" from "I used to be a reader," I decided that one of my goals for 2023 is to make time to read a book every day for at least 15 minutes.
You see, growing up I used to read books all the time, often into the wee hours of the morning. Then I got sidetracked by Netflix, YouTube, and all the other websites.
But I've decided that I want to make more time to read books again as I found that I miss doing it and truly enjoy it.
While I love the feel (and smell) of a printed book, these days my preferred method of reading is the Kindle app on my iPad or Phone. This is mostly because I almost always have one or the other with me and it makes it easier for me to create reading time.
Several people that I trust told me to check out this book by Jodi Hrbek and they were not wrong! I am only on Chapter 6 but the amount of value provided in this book is insane and it's very hard to put down.
If you’re a new admin, a seasoned pro, or just learning Salesforce, I HIGHLY suggest reading this book (check the link in the comments below).
Have you read it? If so, what was your experience?

Available on Amazon now, I have just ordered my copy of 'Rock your Role as a Salesforce Admin' by Jodi Hrbek. As I registered to be on the pre-launch update list for the book, I recently received a sneak peek into the introduction section of the book, and I can't wait to get stuck into the rest of the book after just reading the first section!
Whether you're just getting started as a Salesforce admin, are a seasoned pro, or somewhere in between, I'd recommend you add this to your reading list. It contains many tips and tricks focusing on the soft skills you need to be successful as a Salesforce admin and more, and as everyone within the Salesforce ecosystem will know, the learning never stops!

Jodi Hrbek, You always have been a coach, and I learned a lot from you. I can bet your book is the reflection of your experience and a true mentor mindset. This book would incredibly help everyone to Rock in their Salesforce Admin Role. A big congratulations, and let’s do a party next month to celebrate the hard work you have put in.
On a side note, a big set of your book will be in FEXLE Services Private Limited's library, and we will have everyone read it. I will also recommend people to go through it.
Looking forward to meeting you again soon.

I like to breakdown the Salesforce Admin skillset into two buckets:
1. Salesforce Technical skills that you can learn on Trailhead
2. Everything Else
The "Everything Else" includes things like:
-how to figure out what users *really* want
-how to communicate across technical and business audiences
-the importance of testing
-project management skills
When you look at the really successful Salesforce Admins - the ones who their clients love to work with, the ones who are leaders within their orgs - they're usually very strong in these areas.
Jodi Hrbek's new book is all about these skills. It's not uncommon for these topics to feel dry and abstract, but Jodi has done an awesome job to make this a fun read that is extremely tangible and practical.
There are a few books that I buy in bulk because I know I'm going to be sharing them with clients all the time. This is one of those books. Check it out, I highly recommend it.

Book Recommendation: Rock Your Role as a Salesforce Admin - Arriving 8/22!
Last fall I was able to read an advance copy of this book (Beta Reader is the new Beta Tester!) and found it incredibly encouraging and helpful in thinking about my role as a Salesforce Admin/Business Analyst.
The author, Jodi Hrbek, writes a lot of fantastic posts on LinkedIn as well that are thought provoking and useful at the same time. (lnkd.in/gMymTruR) Like stop using checkboxes - Yes/No picklists are more intuitive for the User AND work better in reporting! One of the many great pieces of advice she gives.
If you are looking to take your career to the next level, I cannot recommend this book enough. There are pieces of advice I use every day - my favorite being to not be more invested in a project than your stakeholders! It helped reframe my perspective on a project that was sucking up HOURS of time. I made the decision to stop the madness and step back, and it's still on hold a YEAR LATER because of the lack of engagement.
E-book is now available for pre-order, paperback will be pre-order ready soon, and an audiobook is coming later this year!
Coming 8/22!
