EQ Coach supporting people in bridging feelings and reason
-Identified a need for guidance in regulating emotions after experiencing a setback at work.
-Reconnected with a friend who was coaching women on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and finding their authentic path.
-Learned about emotions, how they serve us and shifted mindset about them.
-Used journaling as a tool for inner dialogue, gaining clarity into emotions and thoughts, and making better decisions.
-Practiced "check-ins" and constantly reminded self to "choose again".
-Learned to understand emotions through the work of Karla McLaren, embracing all emotions without labeling them good or bad.
-Explored emotional intelligence through further online courses and programs, eventually enrolling in Six Seconds' Certified EQ coach program.
-Gained deeper self-awareness, became better at communicating, and formed lasting relationships with like-minded people.
-Connected to a higher purpose of serving to create a better world, one person at a time.
-Encourage people and organizations to leverage emotional intelligence to lead with clarity and empathy.
Two years ago, I found myself crying at the kitchen table, feeling hopeless and lost after making a mistake at work. It was a simple error, but with a significant impact, and I felt like I was taking all the blame and shame from others. I didnāt have the skillset to regulate my emotions, and I quickly spiraled into despair and powerlessness. The only thing I knew then was that I needed some guidance.
I wanted to learn more about emotional intelligence. So, I searched for programs and online courses and enrolled in a few to expand my knowledge. I came across Six Seconds, an NGO with the largest international EQ network that offers multiple courses and certifications around the topic. Six Seconds had a program that led to a Certified EQ coach. At the time, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to become a coach, but my intuition spoke to me, and I decided to follow my curiosity and enroll in the program. It turned out to be a life-changing decision.
I not only gained deeper self-awareness but also became better at communicating. My husband was the first to notice the change; he was quick to point out that I was less reactive to daily events that frustrated me before and that I was listening more than I was talking during our conversations. A little embarrassing to admit, but yes, I learned we had two ears and one mouth for a reason. I also formed lasting relationships with like-minded people in my cohort, which reinforced my commitment to personal and professional growth. I will cherish these relationships for the rest of my life. My journey towards becoming an EQ Coach was driven not just by becoming a better person myself, but it has connected me to a higher purpose of serving to create a better world, one person at a time.
Let's take this journey toward personal and professional growth together!
