The food isn't as good as it once was, especially the mac and cheese, and some of the workers, one guy in particular, is almost always rude. The portions are no longer a good size. The same workers that are rude will also skimp you on everything but rice if you order online and aren't there watching them plate it. They also don't follow instructions for online orders, even if they're in the item name and you're paying extra for it (i.e., white meat jerk chicken). There's better food elsewhere, especially for the price.

Came again because this place is rapidly becoming our favorite "pre-flight carry-on".
However I am having a moment of deep depression, because this time when we went, we did not see the tamarind BBQ pork on the menu. When I came here last year, it was the centerpiece of the experience.
Look the rest of what we did order was amazing (Oxtail was A+ tender, Okra was so yum. Mac and Cheese was to die for. Jerk Chicken always good). But please bring back the tamarind bbq pork. Or at least may I please have the recipe it was that good. I'm about to go online and buy pimento wood and learn the art of smoking bbq just so that I can have it again.

This place is a winner! I feel like it's a hidden gem and I hope it maintains its high quality of food.
Generous portion of oxtail! I was highly impressed with the servers scoops but I was like yes girl! I am here for it. Pairs perfectly with the jasmine white rice. The mac and cheese is so homely and feels a hug.
The greens were good but since I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers I didn't love that flavor coming through.
However there are plenty of other sides to pick from and I'll be back to try them all.
Clean restaurant, I think most ppl order delivery as we were the only ones eating in.
Staff was nice, especially the girl who served us, wish I got her name.
I would say based on the crowd coming in that this place is authentic in their food.

Been wanting to check out this spot for a while since there aren't many Jamaican spots in the area. The appearance is clean and the staff was welcoming. Asking if we had been there before and provided recommendations . Jerk Chicken was a little dry but the jerk sauce elevates it. Oxtail with rice and peas , sweet potato and collard greens was a definite hit. I just think the meat portion was stingy, as there were mostly bones. It was quite tasty though. Their veggie patty is fire!

I'd say this place is more of a 3.5, I rounded up.
The food is out on display, as you walk in. You order and the food is served cafeteria style. There's several different types of meats and side dishes that you can choose from.
I've been here on a couple of different occasions, so I've tried a few different types of meats and side dishes. I'd say the food overall is pretty decent and flavorful without being overbearing.
The portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side and the combos are big pricey.

I've been coming here for years now and everything has always been excellent however I have found the last couple of times the orders are not correct. Last week, I made an online order of two entrées one of which was the stewed chicken with green bananas and sweet potatoes however when I picked up my order I checked it and they gave me sides of sweet plantains and cabbage. I pointed this out and she looked at the receipt and went to the back to correct it. When I got home I noticed they still left the plantains there and never gave me the sweet potatoes. Also they drowned the rice with so much gravy that my mom refused to eat it.
The flavor of everything was great however they need to pay more attention to plating the orders.

Ordered the brown stew chicken with rice and peas, greens and Mac n cheese. Rice and peas tasted so good, you can taste the coconut flavor popping through in the rice and peas! Fall off the bones meat in the brown stew chicken. Greens was flavor-full and Mac n' cheese was good too!
My fave was the cod fritters, made to order...crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, actual salted cod used to make these fritters. Unfortunate they did not have their ranch onion dip to go with.

Easily my favorite Caribbean restaurant in the area! Fresh menu items always perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning has made this our go to spot for curried goat!

Looking for amazing Jamaican food but don't want to travel ? Look no further because nestled in the heart of Hackensack is this true Jamaican hidden gem!
Get the soursoup lemonade to cool off from the heat ! The jerk wings were amazing and so was the greens and the mac & cheese! The staff was friendly, and I was definitely Vibin to the music.

Just traveled back from India and I wanted to eat something with Rice but not Indian Cuisine, and came across Jerk'D and they did not disappoint. Everything we got looked fresh and tasted GREAT. We tried Chicken and Goat, and both were cooked to perfection. Fresh juices were refreshing.
Price is a little on the high end but their portions of meat is more than average, and for the taste, it's absolutely worth it.

$29 for four pieces of oxtail?!!
Tastes good but the price for what you get is outrageous.
Plus one fork and one straw for two meals and three drinks?
You can do better man when I'm spending $70+ on lunch.

Small spot with very big flavors and hospitality. I recommend trying the "secret" juice blend: half mango & half soursop, don't tell me ppl... Everything I tried was amazing. Food: Jerk Chicken Bowl, Mac And Cheese Steam Cabbage..

Got the oxtail, collard greens, rice and peas and Mac and cheese. Everything was so salty!
Pricey but mediocre portions.
Couldn't finish the collard greens, too salty.
Tiny portion of Mac and cheese was the best.
Oxtail was salty but tasty and somewhat tender.

Someone recommended this restaurant to me and I wanted to check it out. I called in my order of the curry chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and pickled banana. When I arrived I parked nearby. I walked into this cute restaurant. I told the lady my name and she had my food ready. I paid and left. When I dug in, it was very good. The chicken was savory and very well flavored. The food was very filling. It was affordable and I really enjoyed it.

Phenomenon food. It's definitely more of a lunch spot. Walk up to counter & order. Food prepared from buffet style prep. Had to get extra to bring home! Will be back for sure!!!

I went for lunch with a co-worker of mine. She had eaten here before and liked the food. The person who waited on us was very nice. The restaurant had a cool ambiance and appeared very clean. The food was good, and I particularly favored the soup over everything else. And they do have 30% of the soup after 5pm. Would I go here again, yes!

I've decided to try out a restaurant several times before putting a review on Yelp. Thus, this is an aggregate view of my experiences here.
I think as far as Jamaican cuisine goes, it is average fare that sometimes hit the spot and other times leaves you wanting more. I wouldn't call any of these dishes authentically Jamaican per se, but close. For instance, the soups, while good, are not as authentic as you would find at other jamaican spots. I do think the rice and peas + oxtail are their highlights.
The service comes off as polite, but there is sometimes an energy from one worker in particular..where it feels like he doesn't want to be there or you're adding to his stress by ordering. I know work in general can be stressful, but one shouldn't have customers spend money in an establishment and feel like a bother. I know it's a running joke that jamaican food isn't good without a side of attitude lol-- so maybe that will appeal to you.
Anyway...you'll find things here to eat, just adjust your expectations and realize that you're not getting the 100% authentic Jamaican experience in flavor...[if you know you know!]

I'm no expert on Jamaican or other Caribbean cuisine, but I do know good food and service! Jerk'D had great food, generous portions, friendly service. The server even let me try the oxtail before deciding if I wanted oxtail or goat. Very nice of him. I chose the goat. It was tender and spicy and had great flavor, maybe a touch too much salt, but I didn't mind it too much. Delish!!!

I wish I could give this restaurant ten stars !! I was in the mood for Caribbean food and went there with a friend. I ordered an oxtail platter with okra and collard greens, and my friend ordered the Jerk'd salmon with sweet plantains and collard greens. The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly and professional. I wish there were something that I could add to make my experience better, but EVERYTHING was perfect! Please do yourself a favor and try the ginger lemonade and the sorrel!!! Thanks, I will be back soon!!

Tried their Vegan Sandwich it was so good. The seasoning was great. I will say that I'm curious what patty they use. Hoping to see more whole foods like mushrooms on the menu!
When I went the first time it was a good time minus the service. They forgot to give us a side of plĂ¡tano maduros, then when I went back they said that they never charged me and my partner for it. So we were charged twice. So double check your items before leaving !
Ambiance's is cool but would rather order ahead because it can get busy.
Can't wait to try their other vegan foods!

Had a craving for jerk chicken and stopped in to try. Ended up getting some pumpkin chicken soup (large bcuz it looked so good) and a jerk chicken meal. The meal comes with 3 sides, so I went with mac&cheese, greens, and rice & peas. I didn't realize they do white meat, so I did a mix of white and dark meat. At the time I walked in, they were finishing a new batch of chicken, so you know it was GOOD good!! Really nice jerk flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and will definitely be back!!

Y'all owe me for this one: ask for DANE*** to serve you. Dane embodies all of what makes Jamaica special. Hospitable, sweet & SUPER generous with portions! Not to mention the Jamaican accent! Cute touch. The oxtail is to die for; however, it is a bit pricey - BUT I PROMISE it's well worth it. Second favorite is the okra. Come w/ an empty stomach & a fat wallet.

I usually enjoy patronizing this restaurant. This time it was at the end of the day when a friend and I stopped in. The food quality was about a 4 out of 10 at best. The service was unfriendly and the portions reflected the attitude. Not sure if I would stop in again and if I do it would probably be much earlier in the day.

So we decided to go for a different taste and gave Jerk D a try. I am pleased to say that EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious!! We ordered curry chicken, jerk chicken, stew chicken, mac 'n cheese, collard greens, and mixed vegetables for our sides. My favorite was the jerk chicken and the stew chicken along with the mac 'n cheese!!! In addition to the food, the customer service was great! A young man, Jahim, offered samples of each of their drinks to acquaint our palates with the unfamiliar drinks. They were all great but the ginger lemonade and the soursop won us over!! Definitely going back and encourage others to give it a try!!!

Food tastes great. Can't wait to try different menu items. Super long wait when you order on Ubereats-- my food took 2.5 hours to get delivered... not sure if this was the Uber delivery driver or the restaurant. Guess I will pickup next time I order and see if it's faster.

Found this place on a whim and was glad I did!
Food was delicious but a bit overpriced for the portion size. There is only one size per entree as opposed to S,M & L.
I have no complaints taste wise. The food is fresh, not oily or greasy, smells good, well seasoned. I mean what is there to complain about? Lol
We had: curry chicken ($14), jerk chicken ($13), and oxtail($22)
Sides I tried: Mac n cheese, Okra, rice n peas, collard greens and sweet potato.
Carrot cake is home made for $3.50. One word: moist.
Will def be back to try more items on the menu!

A munched welcomed new establishment to the already diverse restaurant scene in Hackensack. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and the environment is welcoming. We wanted to try everything, but held back for another day. I went for the quintessential jerked chicken platter with cabbage and sweet potatoes. We also ordered the curry chicken with jasmine rice and collard greens. The flavors did not disappoint and the spices were blended quite nicely. We washed our meal down with organic juices made on premises: Ginger Lemonade and a refreshing glass of passion fruit juice. The cherry on top was the bread pudding. When eating at the restaurant, the staff offers to heat up your bread pudding and smother it with homemade Rum Sauce - I can eat that sauce everyday.
Overall - it was a great experience and we enjoyed every bite.
Warning though - parking is horrible. You're better off Peking across the street and walking over.

Caribbean gem that will please all your taste buds!
This place is just what we needed in Hackensack. Hip, modern, tasty, and authentic. Different from all the places that surround it and a great option for when you want some comfort food.
Clean decor where you can sit and enjoy your food, and a beautiful Jamaican inspired mural on one side of the wall. For it being the first day of opening it went very smooth and my food came out very quick.
The menu has many options (including vegan) and this visit I opted for curry chicken with sides of sweet potato and jasmine rice. They also have a nice selection of drinks and desserts, and I went with the passion fruit shake. The portions are a nice size and I even had a lot left over to save for later.
Definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Good.
I had the oxtail. Its was tasty but a bit uninspiring. Oxtail is a labor of love and it lacked that fall off the bone juiciness and depth of flavor I love. The rice and peas was delicious. Greens were fair, a little on the bitter side, which isn't my favorite. They could do with a pre-soak and a bit more simmer in the pot. Plantains were delicious.
My lady had the goat and ginger lemonade, she enjoyed.
The service and experience was awesome. The restaurant is beautiful, airy and well lit. The staff was engaging and helpful with the menu.
Given the fast casual concept they're going for I appreciated the execution. I'll be back.

Initially I used to order the Veggie Roti. Now I order the $22 Curry Salmon plate with 3 sides.
The salmon is tender and tasty. the cabbage is bomb asf due to the curry flavor. And the Mac & cheese needs more seasoning. But it's still enjoyable.
Imma be 100% honest. I'm from NYC and this does not taste like authentic Jamaican cuisine. it's not spicy enough.. but having this in NJ is very convenient. It tastes like the closest thing to heaven.
I give it 5 stars because no matter what, It's better than the other options around Teaneck.

The staff here is very friendly. The owner sat and talked with me as I waited for someone to arrive. They do have dine in option but it is limited to observe COVID regulations. The staff wore their masks. They offer juice samples here as well. The sorrel and mint lemonade are really good. I salmon, greens, and plantains are highly recommended. They have limited parking in the back but allow time to find a space.

LISTEN.. there was not one single thing in this bowl that wasn't perfectly cooked or seasoned. My GOODNESS. Every single bite was delicious. The oxtail.. phew so tender and flavorful, the wrk chicken.. insane, a little kick to it but the flavor was unreal. The cabbage wasn't boring or tasteless like it can be - it wasn't over cooked and it had subtle seasoning to not take away from the main coarse. The Mac and cheese was gone in an instant. You HAVE to go here!

My coworkers had been raving about Jerk'd for months and definitely had to check them out myself. First and foremost, parking is tough in this area as they're located on a Main Street but if you go on Prospect Ave and Kaplan Ave you'll find spots there. This restaurant gets very busy during lunch time so highly recommend you to order ahead to avoid the wait.
My first impression of Jerk'd was a positive one, the interior was very welcoming, modern, and nicely decorated. They had a really nice mural that fit so beautifully with the theme of the restaurant. They have a good amount of table for those who choose to dine indoors but if not, to go is always an option.
Jerk'd is a modern Jamaican restaurant with a fast casual feel to it. They had the sides hot and ready for those who are interested in making their own platters. These sides included vegetables, Mac and cheese, rice, and they had meats like jerk chicken plus oxtails there too. As I was in the mood to try their vegetarian options, I opted for their Mac and cheese, string beans, carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and cabbage. The Mac was tasty and can see myself ordering it again. The veggies were a little too undercooked for my liking but may be ok for others. I also ordered their vegetarian roti (round flatbread) with curry chickpea. The roti was very fresh and the curry was tasty.
To finish my experience, I tried their sorrel, a Jamaican hibiscus drink that was slightly tart and a little gingery. I loved it to be honest and liked how it was so authentic.

I ordered oxtails with rice and peas, cabbage and greens. The food is excellent. Authentic Jamaican. The gravy in the oxtails was delicious. I was craving oxtails for weeks and I would have paid anything for it but $33 was sticker shock! Was it worth the expense, yes but next time I will find a place not so trendy catering to all the high paid docs and nurses in the area. I'm sure I could get the same quality meal for significantly less. But I was so happy to satisfy my craving!

I can't believe I've been riding past this place for over a year and never noticed. I live close by but always go to Teaneck for my Caribbean food at least twice a month.
We sampled jerk chicken, brown stew chicken and oxtails. The jerk chicken was by far the weakest link. The flavor was ok but the meat itself was dry. Not sawdust dry or anything but some juice needs to flow through meat and it did not. Unlike other Caribbean places, Jerk'D is not at all stingy with the gravy. The oxtails were good but not the best I ever had. The brown stew chicken was solid.
I also really enjoyed the variety of sides - beets (yay!), braised collards (meh. Under-seasoned but cooked well), mac n cheese (another top performer), sweet plantain (ripe and perfectly cooked) and fried cabbage (same as the collards). Rice and beans were just right.
I had no issues with the price or serving size - except the cabbage. They ran out and didn't bring out more or try to make up for the small serving as they ran out. Otherwise, the food preparer was super friendly & helpful. Cashier was less communicative but decent. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.
Jerk'D won't take the place of my top Caribbean takeout spot but I give it a solid B/B+. If I'm looking for Caribbean and quick, I'd absolutely grab a meal here again. I recommend you give it a try.

We got the following items:
Plate 1: Braised Oxtail, Rice & Peas, Cabbage, Sweet Plantains
Plate 2: Curry Chicken, Rice & Peas, Mac 'n Cheese, Mixed Veggies
Carrot Cake
Mango Passionfruit
Everything was amazing. I wasn't going to get the Curry Chicken but saw everyone in line before me getting it so I changed my mind last minute and was glad that I did. The Curry Chicken combined with the Rice & Peas and other sides had this comforting goodness to it. The Mango Passionfruit Juice freshly made was SO good.
I'll definitely be back again soon.

The food is delicious! There is a variety of chicken dishes and veggies options. Very importantly they are environmental friendly and don't use Styrofoam which I really appreciate. Mickkale is amazing and recommended the Veggie Plate which was delicious. The prices are great for the amount of food they serve. Jerk'D is included in my mental health walk for great eats! Thank you!

Despite the name, you will not feel Jerk'd when you leave this establishment. It's authentic Caribbean food but not typical Jamaican customer service. Yes, I said what I said. All of my senses were satisfied, I was greeted by the chef upon entering, nice reggae tunes playing, I took in the aromas of fresh curry and coconut. The vibrant restaurant colors and artwork was highlighted with great restaurant lighting (lighting is everything).
This was my first time here so I had a lot of questions, the server was patient with me and explained flavors for menu items I wanted details on. Specifically the creole salmon - which took time to cook but was amazing.
Once I finished with all my ordering I knew here is where the fun began- the woman at the register... I'm a born and raised Brooklyn girl, so like a switch I mentally put on gear for verbal sparring. There were desserts at the front register, so I asked what were the options. The cashier looked at me and get this.. kindly explained what was on display. She was so nice I backed down from defensive mode. My name was read off the receipt "Mrs. K here is your food" as it was handed to me in a sturdy paper bag.
Overall this restaurant had great vibes and the food was delicious and flavorful, it also traveled well in the packaging. As we say in the Caribbean community "Mi rate dem"

I am so torn between giving this place a 3 or 4. I was in the area and was super excited to see a Caribbean spot nearby. I stopped by around 7:15pm and ordered pretty soon after.
I ordered the Jerk Chicken Bowl (~$13) which comes with jerk chicken and 3 sides of your choice. I went with Rice & Peas, Fried Sweet Plantains, and Cheddar Mac & Cheese. The Jamaican Pineapple Juice (~$3) also caught my eye.
They were out of Mac & Cheese at the time but the worker told me it would be a couple minutes. I said that wasn't a problem since I wasn't in a rush. It took 25 minutes for me to get my order... At this point, there were at least 5 or so people also waiting on their orders and it was started to get a bit too crowded inside. After about 30 minutes in total, I got my order and headed it.
The Jerk Chicken has great flavor although was a tad dry. I definitely recommend asking them for some sauce on the side. The Rice & Peas were great as well as the Fried Sweet Plantains. I think I got maybe 4 plantains which was disappointing since I absolutely love them. The Mac & Cheese was a complete let down. After waiting 25 minutes specifically for it, I was hoping it would at least come out good. There was no flavor to it and the cheesy sauce was a bit watery. The macaroni was also not 100% cooked all the way, so it was a bit hard. I did enjoy the Jamaican Pineapple Juice a lot! It was sweet and refreshing. It might have been my favorite part of the meal.
All in all, I don't know if this was just an off night for them, but the service was definitely lacking. The food could have been much better in terms of flavor. The quantity was totally fine for the price paid! If I'm ever back in the area, I wouldn't be excited to come back here.

So I probably would have given 3.5 stars if that was an option but I decided to round up. The food is good here but the mac and cheese taste like Kraft mac and cheese, it was very dry, the cabbage and plantains and jerk wings were good but the Mac and cheese put a real damper on the meal.
