Wall of love for The Influential Researcher
I participated your course in past December and just wanted to give you a brief feedback on how it changed our company for the better.
Background: We’re a small owner-operated business with a quite complex business domain and a diverse set of business rules within our domain. (Conference Management Software, with a focus on scientific conferences) We had a few research practitioners sprinkled across the org, but market-research, customer-research and user-research were siloed in different departments of the company and all of them did not have specialised research functions. Actionable research insights were a side product at best.
Intervention: So here is what I did after taking your course: At first I tried to convince executives of using Topline reports. I got ignored for weeks. Then I simply pitched the intervention to the whole company (40 employees currently) at an all-hands meeting. I just had 10 Minutes to explain the format Topline Report and the pyramid principle. But after taking your course I had both the confidence and knowledge do to it well.
Outcome:
Researchers realized how it can help summarize their findings and executives acknowledged the impact of it on their decision making in terms of customer centricity and efficiency. We’re now implementing a company wide task force to breaking the knowledge and data silos led by a central business function (Business Intelligence) that we‘re now hiring for.

Ari’s UX research course is great! Seriously, one of the best teachers I’ve had so far. He shares great examples to explain things, and can tell when we need extra help or resources. He promptly adjusts his teaching on the fly to make sure everyone gets it. It was also cool that Ari shared some of his own previous flaws. It made the whole process feel less intimidating and that we can all improve with time and experience. This course is different from other ones I’ve taken, and in a good way. I’m hoping to become more confident about my research and presentation skills by the end! Definitely recommend this course if you’re looking to learn UX research in a way that’s actually interesting (and makes you feel human!).

I'm a UX researcher team of one, on a new ux team my company created. This course came up just in time. Ari offered so many frameworks and priceless advice on how to see this problem. I started using the POSTER framework to share insights and I noticed teammates started to think and talk about UX research differently.

I am a senior user researcher In a niche company, the course helped me frame my point of view better when engaging with stakeholders. I especially appreciate the POSTER framework and I used it last week, this received positive feedback. The best thing about the course is it is beyond "how to be a good researcher "or choose this methods etc, it is a factual and objective course that discusses real life issues we face everyday, and how to value ourselves so that others can value us, no more begging for a seat at the table when we can pull a chair and join in. Whenever I speak up in meetings now, i talk authoritatively. The ux research discipline is the most disrespected in the industry, there needs to be a change, and this course does just that! Thank you both!
