The Novelry Wall of Love

I returned from a travel program to Italy to a job with which I am struggling, and I just decided that I didn't want to wake up any years from now thinking I hadn't written the book I've always wanted to write because I was too scared or didn't think I was good enough to start. My amazingly supportive husband helped me research writing coaches, and we found The Novelry. I was really inspired by one of the success stories that said that she didn't think should do it, but she trusted the process and wrote a book. I wanted (and still want) to write that success story. I'm one course in out of four, I believe, but so far The Novelry has opened my eyes to a collaborative and supportive writing and publishing world that I didn't know existed. After years in academia and in writing workshops where the one rule was that the writer shouldn't defend their writing, it feels so refreshing to just have people believe in the possibility of my writing a book and being successful at anything really. I have really personal reasons for writing the book that I've signed on to write (but don't worry! I'm not the main character), and I think it's helpful to know that I'm learning to be a creative writer, and I have two very amazing people whom I hope will be able to read my book. If nothing else happens to it, that's okay. I'm writing it for two people with the same name...long story. Anyway, I guess so far, my advice would be to do it for some personal reason and not to want to be rich and famous because that's not really what we're learning about here.
