Last Thursday, I attended the Financial Planners Ireland annual conference. It’s one the key events each year and a great opportunity to catch up with peers and friends, as well as hearing great speakers. The highlight for me was listening to thegirlnamed Stevyn . Stevyn is a health expert for financial advisors. Her hope is not only that we take on board her advice, but that we share her knowledge with our clients. How often do we see people plan financially for their retirement only to spend a large part of it in ill health. Good health is often the missing piece of a successful retirement plan. Stevyn talks about how we can extend our health span and reduce our sick span. Incredibly for a health expert, I don’t think she mentioned diet and exercise once! In her opinion, you must have foundation in place, before you go on diets. Her approach was refreshing, and she left us with actionable tips to improve our own health and wellness. I note some of these below. Get regular blood tests. Wear a health and fitness tracker to monitor your steps, beats per minute and your sleep patterns. Measure your waist in inches (from your belly button) and divide by your height in inches. It should be less than 0.5 Split the day in half. If you have breakfast at 7am, finish eating at 7pm giving your body 12 hours fasting period every day. The first hour in the day and last hour before bed are vital to set yourself up for success. Drink water first thing in the morning. Look at daylight within 10 minutes of waking. Try and walk after each meal, even if its just 15 minutes. When sitting for long hours, try and remember to move every hour, even if it’s just a 1-minute walkabout. Fall risk is a huge issue as we get older. The more times we get down and up off the floor during the day the better. If you can do this without your hands, you’re doing great so keep it up!! Finally set your self up for a good night’s sleep. No food within 3 hours of sleep, no work within 2 hours and vitally, no blue screens within 1 hour. I hope I have done her justice but suggest you checkout this podcast if you are interested in hearing more. kitces.com/blog/stevyn-guinnip-financial-advisor-client-health-wellness-healthspan-retirement

Stevyn — you bring such a balanced approach to coaching and educating advisors. Whereas so many people use FOMO to motivate others, you emphasize positivity and empowerment, creating confidence instead of fear. Thank you for presenting such a clear example of how impactful the difference can be!

thegirlnamed Stevyn is producing incredible content. Every post provides serious value and actions for anyone looking to genuinely improve their life.

My guest on today's podcast is thegirlnamed Stevyn, founder of Grow Wellthy, a health and wellness consulting firm that specializes in working with busy – but not always healthy – financial advisors. What's unique about Stevyn is how she combines her family roots in financial advice with her decades-long career in wellbeing and health as a coach to financial advisors, primarily to address what she calls "The Big Swap" – where we start our careers being younger and healthier but with very little income, and then grow to the point that we're financially successful but at the cost of swapping out our health – a trend that Stevyn is trying to reverse given how it impacts not only an advisor's quality of life but, ironically, also their finances but impacting when they have to retire (or not). bit.ly/48fIQ89 #advicers

Fantastic podcast! Two professionals at the top of their game! Kudos to Michael Kitces and thegirlnamed Stevyn for their fantastic insights.

Having worked with Stevyn as a client, let me say - I’ve hardly ever met someone who is every bit who they say they are. She’s a quiet miracle worker mascarading as a coach. Advisors need to check this out.
