We buy between 7-10kg of meat from Free Range Butcher at Lilyfield markets every week. The flavour of their pasture finished beef is so full and rich, I never knew how big a difference there was grain vs pasture finished until buying quality meat from Free Range Butcher. Definitely worth the extra dollars to get higher quality produce which is more nutrient dense. Regarding freshness of their produce, my wife is pregnant and will throw up any meat that's not freshly butchered. It has to be fresh as for her gut to not reject it. Can say over past 6 months, almost every single butcher we've bought from has had inconsistent, apart from Free Range Butcher. My experience with other butchers where the meat has been pre packed, is the meat weighs significantly less than weight marked. When you're buying 7-10kg of meat per week, and each 1kg pack is 50-100g less than marked... it really adds up! I've measured alot of packs from Free Range Butcher and so far has either been bang on to the gram or slightly more 10-15g. So you can rest assured they are honest! Michele even challenged me to call Weights & Measures to check a stores produce if we had any doubts of honesty when I voiced concerns about experiences with other butchers. This is only the behaviour of someone with absolute integrity who values customer feedback, and willing to go out on a limb to prove their authenticity. Now to some of the produce we've bought over the past year from them: - Chuck Steaks (High intramuscular fat, new daily staple) - Rump Steaks (good size fat cap) - Primal Rump cut (whole 5.5kg Rump) - Lamb & Beef Mince (cooked then throw some whisked eggs in the wok with it, yummo) - Tomahawks (best over charcoals after 15-20min in oven) - Flat Iron Steaks - Leg of Lamb (had last night, in the oven was crispy skinned, nice and fatty) - Whole chicken (great oven roasted) - Sausages and Kofta packs, usually on special. - list goes on. These are very tasty. Work well with salad in a wrap. Great alternative to sauasages, as easy and quick to cook. Unfortunately too spicy for the kids though. Would be great to see spicy & non-spicy versions. They’d be a great lunchbox option.
