I am pleased to share with everyone that I will be starting a full-time job in the marketing field on March 18th. In February, I resigned from my previous recruitment full-time job and began exploring new opportunities in the marketing sector. This was a challenge for me: As a recent graduate, any job opportunity is precious to me. Despite knowing that I had to let go of my current job sooner or later to pursue a career path in marketing, making this decision undoubtedly required immense courage. I must express my gratitude to my coach Grace, who provided me with tremendous assistance during the decision-making process and as I embarked on a new job. Firstly, in terms of interview skills, I now feel confident in most interviews. However, I still remember my inexperienced performance in the early interviews I received last June. Grace systematically taught me everything about interview expressions, including maintaining confidence, showcasing personality, and expressing ways to add value to the company. I am delighted that during this month of interviews, I received positive feedback, such as being articulate and passionate about the marketing industry. I am very thankful to Grace for teaching me how to articulate my thoughts and convey them to the interviewers. Secondly, the mindset. This is a macro concept of maintaining belief in oneself and keeping a positive attitude. After making the decision to resign, I frequently received interview invitations for positions I wasn't particularly interested in, while the ones I liked responded sparingly. I felt the pressure and doubted whether I had made the right decision – a common human reaction, I suppose. At this point, Grace advised me not to focus on things I couldn't control but to do my best in everything I could. I followed her advice, and a dramatic turn of events followed: in the week that followed, three opportunities almost simultaneously found me. I realized then that in the process of seeking my career development, one should not compromise due to impatience and always maintain firmness. Finally, I want to express my gratitude to Grace for answering my questions and enabling me to actively connect with recruiters on LinkedIn. I hope to continue progressing in the marketing career path, and I welcome recruiters to continue reaching out to me in the future.

I’m currently a dual degree candidate of both MA in Translation Studies in Beijing and MSc in Digital Marketing in Dublin. The biggest challenge getting in the way of my career path switch is my unfamiliarity with the job-hunting or recruiting norms in western countries. I think Grace for sure claims credit for sharing so many helpful and informative resources on the platform with beginners like me in such contexts teaming with sense of insecurity and uncertainty in terms of career building as we have to assimilate into a community that shares different values and cultures from mine back in China.
