I’m a digital artist who primarily works in SAI2, with a strong focus on grayscale and color blocking. I rely heavily on palettes as a foundation for building my compositions, and Palette stands out as an essential tool in my workflow. What I appreciate most about Palette is that it preserves the integrity of my work. Unlike many AI-based tools that alter values, distort facial features, or fundamentally change the image, Palette does exactly what I need—it provides a wide range of color options without interfering with the original structure or tonal balance of my piece. That level of control is important to me. I’m not looking for transformation; I’m looking for support. Palette enhances my process without taking it over, which is why it remains my go-to.

I've tried multiple colorizing apps and Palette is the best by far. People are so impressed with my photos. If you need to colorize historic photos look no further!

Another colorised old family photo. This is my great-aunt Sophie who I only knew as a small, bent, wrinkled old woman. Here she is as a very serious-looking 14-year old, posing in her first communion dress (1904). I am slowly learning how to describe the result I want to the AI by modifying the offered templates. It worked rather well with this one, I think!

Hey this is amazing work, I enjoyed doing this manually on photoshop but what you've created is light-years ahead of anything I could ever achieve.

This is probably the best colorizing AI I've ever used. Keep up the great work! I've colorized a few old family pictures from before I was born and you can't tell they were black and white at all.

As a genealogist I have many photos of my ancestors and I have always wondered how "real life" looked for them. I found your website and appreciated the fixed price and number of photos available to colorize. I also have other software to colorize it myself but it is very, very time consuming so your AI generated color works perfectly for me, particularly with all the color options. The attached image is of my g-g-g grandfather taken in 1870.

I've been restoring old family photos for several years and have used multiple products in an attempt to shorten the time required to produce a high quality colorization. Palette is the only option that I've used that delivers relatively accurate skin tones without blowing out the highlight areas in faces. Combined with the multiple templates and ability to modify the prompts, I'm typically able to cut the subsequent time spent in Photoshop substantially. Really looking forward to what Palette will be able to deliver in the future!

I am colorising old pictures of my grand father, but also old pictures of mine I have taken in black & white and not in RAW file (I don't know why the fck I did that 10y ago...) Palette works amazingly well. The color grandiant are ok, and the hability to prompt is amazing. One extra tool I would suggest would be to be able to localy fine tune the colorization.

- In college, I wanted to make the past actually feel alive to my classmates. So often, we are exposed to low-resolution, cruddy, black & white photographs of our history. It creates a disconnect between ourselves and how we got here—when in reality, we have a lot more in common with our ancestors than we think. Color photos are the most immediate way to establish that connection, and make people excited to engage with a gone, but not forgotten, reality. - I'm actually very impressed, and can't help but smile when I use it. It's quick, simple, and the results are very good, especially with a bit of tinkering. - I tried Kolorize.cc, but it's previews, and results, did not seem nearly as polished. In general, I thought AI-powered colorization was still rudimentary and wildly inaccurate. While human-crafted colorization will likely always be unmatched, Palette is a very close, very good approximation. - Palette is an easy and fun-to-use AI colorization tool that encourages its users to get creative. Its interface is intuitive and offers a surprising degree of customization. - Don't be afraid to edit the color prompts! It doesn't turn out right 100% of the time, but when it does, the prompt allows for a much greater degree of accuracy and precision. Further, the undo and redo button means that no mistakes are permanent.

Nice to seed the color of Ancestorial pictures. Just bought the program and have used it once, worked great. Used Photoshop Elements to increase resolution, and replicate to AI the faces.

I sure appreciate the tools offered by Palette! They made colorizing old photos a real breeze. I happened to also have access to another AI upscaling tool and I got the contrast just right before sending in the image. The different from the original is just night and day. Palette is now my go-to option! Thank you!

This is, by far, the easiest and highest quality AI colorizing tool I've tested.. and I've tested a lot. I have been colorizing old photos from my Aunt and Uncle's wedding, and it even guessed the bridesmaid's colors correctly! When I asked my aunt what color they wore, I was shocked.. 10/10 recommend!

Brings to life my old family photos. Easy to use. I have not tried any other tools to colourise, but was very happy with the results. Don't go to bright with the colouring after choosing. Adjust if necessary in a photo editor after downloading and save as .tiff files.

Colorize vintage photos used to be hit or miss with Photoshop Elements or Fotor. With Palette, I can select from many options and even tweak the prompt to fine-tune the colors. Using Palette is a large step above the colorization offerings from Photoshop Elements or Fotor. Colorizing a photo has so many choices (with customizable prompts) that 99-100% of my work is done by Palette. I'd explain Palette to my friend as the best colorization program I've tried and is very affordable and customizable compared to the standard alternatives. Tips for others looking to colorize their photos: improve contrast, blotchiness and resolution before submitting your photos to Palette to allow the AI to better distinguish between areas of the photo that are the same.

Was looking to colourise my photos as a present for a family member. After realising how easy it is with Palette I'll probally do all the black and white photos I have Palette is redicolously easy to use, whoever designed the website is an absolute genius Tried all the other apps/websites. Palette was the only good one and was the last one I tried before I was about to give it up. I'd describe it as a genius wizard that can turn black and white photos into colour... Except the wizard is a website No further tips, just upload it to palette and let it work it's magic

Being from Romania, until the 90s most of the photos were in black and white. To give these photos color is something extraordinary for me. I was very pleasantly impressed with how simple it is and how good quality I can achieve by coloring photographs with Palette. I'm a new user, I haven't had a chance to use all the available tools yet. I colored some simple family photos, using your default filters. Palette is a friendly site where you can colorize your old photos in a professional way, even if you're just a simple user. Use this program, it's worth it!

Love the way Palette auto colours and does it so quickly. I have dozens of old black & white negatives that I’ve rephotographed using iPhone 16 and a light box. Now working through to colourise them. Very simple to use, just add photo and it’s almost instantaneous

Why are you looking to colorize your photos? I have been collecting old postcards of my town in north Liverpool UK for about 8 years and have now amassed several hundred. They are all a bit worn and the majority are in sepia tone. I have found that I can improve them by careful sharpening, applying contrast and colorization. What's the experience of using Palette? I found Palette to deliver an easy to use, subtle colorization that always gives you a choice of treatments. This choice is perfect for variable starting material. Whereas some simply don’t work, one of them always tends to. What other tools did you try? I used al lot of AI Photo Colorizer by Hotpot and had some success but nowhere near as much as Palette. I have also extensively used the built in Photoshop colorizer using neural filters. I have had very variable results with that. How would you explain Palette to your friend? Like its name suggests, Pallete gives you a range of colorization options to choose from. The trick is one or more of them will hit the spot. That’s a very clever way of matching users requirements. Any further tips for others looking to colorize their photos ... On my old postcards I have found that if I scan in color at high resolution and then convert to grayscale it takes out any existing color well (including sepia tone). This is a much better starting point for Palette to suggest the colorization options to pick from. I attach 4 examples done in the last few days. If you need to use them you will need to contact me as they are copyright Litherland History Society. My consent to use is on this prior permission basis as they must be watermarked by me.

Dear Emil! I passed away at the age of 82, I started taking pictures even when we didn't even know about color photos. I took my pictures at an amateur level, with family and friends. It therefore follows that I have many black-and-white pictures, which I started to digitize when I was retired. My favorite subject is my high school years (1956-60), I'm sending a few pictures from that, and I tried to color them for the first time. Most of my old schoolmates are unfortunately no longer alive, and with these colored pictures we can better recall our former youth. I tried many coloring programs, I really liked Palette. Easy to handle, fast and convenient. It deserves all the praise, I can only recommend it to everyone. I'm writing because I have no experience in video making, I don't have time to learn it in such a short time. I am attaching only pictures. I am glad that I found the Palette program, It inspires me to review and update my old pictures. Greetings and thank you for your support.

Hi. I'm Sergiy Ermakov. I'm from Ukraine. Now I've been living in NY for 15 years. I've been looking for a long time how to colorize old black and white photos my little children. I didn't find anything interesting. Then I accidentally came across palette on the Internet. This is just a miracle! I managed to bring back to life almost all the photos that were dear to me. I've been using palette for about four months. Everything is fine. I tried Cutour.pro, Colorize, PicWish, MyHeritage, etc. I didn't like them. Some are bad interface, some have insufficient functionality, etc. There is no need to explain anything to your friends about palette. Everything is clear at first glance. I have one request to the developers to add one function: indicate for the palette the desired color subject. For example: pants should be blue, and a T-shirt should be yellow, etc. Believe me - this is very necessary for better and more believable work. Thank you. Good luck to you. Sorry my bad English.

I decided to colorize my photos to bring my mother's youthful memories to life. She is now 63 years old, and seeing her as a young woman in vibrant colors feels nostalgic and adds a new dimension to her past. Using Palette has been a fascinating experience. The interface is user-friendly, and the results are surprisingly accurate. It's amazing to see how colors can change the perception of an image and make it feel more personal and vivid. I also tried other tools like MyHeritage and DeOldify, but I found Palette to be more intuitive and produced better results for my specific needs. If I were to explain Palette to a friend, I would say it’s a fantastic tool for colorizing black-and-white photos, offering a simple way to breathe life into old memories. It uses advanced AI to analyze images and apply realistic colors, making the whole process feel almost magical. For anyone looking to colorize their photos, I recommend experimenting with different tools to see which one fits your style best. Don't hesitate to adjust the colors manually if the automated process doesn't meet your expectations, as it can greatly enhance the final outcome.

I have used Paletto to collarize my mother's kindergarten photo. It was really a mess at the start, but with ChatGPT's help I got a really beautiful photo. I have tried just the colorization part, and it was really easy to use. I recommend this part especially. I would say my friend "Just upload your photo and see the result with many filters"

The Palette App is an exceptional tool for anyone looking to breathe new life into old black and white photos. segíti felidézni a régmúlt valóságát, nagy sikere van a családomban és barátaim körében. A Palette könnyen és kényelmesen használható Más eszközöket nem próbáltam, véletlenül akadtam rá erre az appra. A Palette a szürke árnyalatok alapján színeket generál,figyelembe veszi a környzet valószínűszíneit. Egy próbát megér, a siker hozza a kedvet a további munkához

I have a collection of old space craft photographs and also some old family photos The experience so far has been extremely positive, it is just so easy to use. Have tried some in Photoshop, but they are not so good. Palette is a tool for easy conversion of BW photos to color - it is that simple. Tips - just try it out. Then you will be convinced.

Good afternoon. I submitted a video but I also want to thank you for the help to make my old photos look so much better. My Mother-in-Law passed away recently at the age of 96 and left so many older B&W photos. This will really help them look so much better. I only wish she could have seen them. Thanks Again. Danny

I wanted an easy to use tool to help me colorize hundreds of pictures for a role playing game campaign published in back and white. I am amazed how fast the tool is, how easy to use and how good the colorized pictures come out.

Hello, I'm a 75 year old man from France and discovered your site looking on Youtube for photos enhancement and a guy was talking about palette.fm. As I don't know How to make a video I just write a testmonial. As I had a few old photos from my family, I decided to give it a Try. I was amazed by the result and immediately bought some credits to work on other photos. I didn't think such a coloring result would be possible in such a short time. I attach some file before and after treatment showing the final color result. Of course, there are a some misses, but they are very few in number. Exemple, in the wedding photo with all the participants, in the middle top, just to the right of the women with a big hat, the part of the face of the little girl next to her is not colorized. At the bottom, the second boy from the left, with the blue suit have both hands and a leg which are not colorized. I did try some other sites like cutout.pro, vanceai, DeepAI, Img2Go, etc... but none gave me such a good result as yours. Thanks for this great software and keep doing this good job. Best Regards Gérard

Very cool. Your results look much better than the washed out AI colorization that I've seen in the past.

오래된 흑백사진에 컬러를 넣고싶어서요. 아주 유용한 도구라고 추천할 것 같습니다. 다만 좀더 섬세하게 컬러링이 들어갔으면 합니다. 감사합니다.

I'm brand new to Palette and I love it !!! I restore old photographs as a hobby and I've tried the colorizing took with Photoshop Elements and I've used MyHeritage before and wasn't happy with either one. Palettes gives me SO many options and helps me be my creative best.

To get viewers more interested in history through photographs. The first experience was impressive despite the challenging photos. AI-based image enhancement for details. I would say it positively and as a great option for bringing old photos back to life. in addition to the easy user interface, there could be a parallel one that could be for image processing professionals?

Sometimes I saw colorised videos on internet from the beginning of the 19th century (1. WW, views of great cities) and I realised, that everything was "normal" in earlier times, similar to the present time. So I wish to have the possibility to colorise my own pictures from the past and some of my patents too. Palette works very well, better than the AI function in Adobe Photoshop. Palette is not so expensive and the transformation to colors are very beautiful. You should experience with different filters, my favourite ist color back.

Over the last 15 years, I have worked with professional colorists restoring and tinting hundreds of antique photos. I use these to illustrate republications of classic history texts from the early 20th century. They generally use PhotoShop, and coloring has been a slow, expensive process. I sought more economical solutions, but none measured up. PixBim and CutOutPro, both paid software, were highly disappointing. But Palette looks like a game changer…not only because it allows colorization of more images without breaking my budget, but because it offers superior control over colorization, and outputs the high-resolution images I need for printing. The large selection of preset color styles give users a wide range of creative styles at the touch of a button. It is truly a user-friendly interface that’s easy to use. Palette’s most unique feature is its ability to adjust color output using AI text prompts. I don’t think any other coloring software offers this feature. Finally, even in the two weeks I’ve been using the software, updates, and articles from the developer, Emil Wallner, make it clear that he is committed to continuing his refinement of this excellent tool. It’s free to try, easy to use, and the professional version is quite economical on a monthly, yearly, or per-image basis. If you want to bring black and white images to life, give Palette a try.

I am working on creating a family archive with family members scattered across the USA. The goal being to bring to life images of family members past to share among ourselves and our children and Grandchildren. I have been put in charge of rehabbing the oldest and most damaged photos. Removing cracks, brightening the photos and colorizing them has been quite the chore. I have used many online platforms for image enhancement and crack removal and tools like PhotoShop where reconstruction is necessary. Palette is my favorite and most accurate tool for colorization of old B&W and Sepia toned images once they have been repaired. The depth of color palettes and the handling of shadowed areas is most impressive. Also it is the very best tool I have found for the reproduction of brown skin tones. It accurately reproduces the range of skin colors one will find in a multi-cultural family situation. I highly recommend Palette as a platform for old photo colorization.

The colorization choices really make this program stand out above all the rest. I tried four other platforms and chose Palette over the rest.

I came across Palette in my efforts to colorize and enhance old black-and-white photos of my mum in her youth. Emil was gracious enough to give me some pointers and provide me with encouragement as I dip my feet into AI as the perfect tool.

Have many old family photos (from World Wars, Weddings, etc) and this app seems to give very good results. Attached image was firstly B&W restored from a very old yellowed image (in Photoshop), and then finally colourised in Palette's app. The results speak for themselves.
