Stepping into the world of HMI for the first time! 🛠️ This week, I took on a new challenge: integrating a Weintek HMI touch screen into my control system. Despite it being my first time working with this hardware, I managed to get it fully operational in just 2 days. Key Progress: • Seamless Communication: Established Modbus TCP connectivity through a network switch. • Data Visualization: Successfully mapped 22 sensor values and 8 actuator settings for real-time monitoring. • Mobile Integration: Topped it off this afternoon by implementing Bluetooth on the controller board, enabling full system access via smartphones and tablets. I'm excited about how quickly this interface came together. It’s amazing to see how modern HMI tools can streamline industrial workflows when you dive right in!

For these projects, I've selected Weintek HMIs - I'm working in EasyBuilder Pro, and it seems like it'll be more than capable for my needs. Someone in this sub suggested them, and I'm liking the software more than the one for the CMore HMIs (and some other brand I've forgotten at the moment). So that part is set. 2 projects - OEM machine that controls some smaller pumps via relays and digital inputs, and monitors tank volume via a 4-20mA pressure sensor. In-house manufacturing line that will pump chemicals and use IO-Link flowmeters from IFM and likely some 4-20mA level sensors, and trigger some output relays.

A few moments from a project I’m really proud of:
A capsule packaging machine using a Siemens PLC, Festo servo systems, Uteco sensors, a Weintek HMI, and additional automation components from Schneider Electric.
It’s always a great feeling to see the automation run smoothly after many hours of programming, testing, and fine-tuning!

I used my first brand new Weintek (Maple) cMT3072XH2v2 HMI earlier this year on a job that had a tight budget for a customer's in house/internal R & D project. I had been really wanting to try one anyway and this was the perfect opportunity.
The application was very basic, so I did not get a chance to use any of it's more advanced features..... Next Time..... I believe that if you are an OEM and you use different platforms, (Rockwell, Siemens, Omron....) but basically you produce the same/similar equipment, then this HMI is going to save you engineering hours and $$$$..... My 2 cents.

Having a little fun giving this controls library a makeover. At first I typically just focus on functionality, without making things too ugly, but understanding they will need some love in the future. The popups are due for some love.
This is continuation of my "PlantPAx Lite" (I do need a better name for it) controls library using CODESYS North America and Weintek Easy Builder Pro HMI software.
I'm developing a library very similar in look, feel, and functionality to PlantPAx, but much lighter - just covering the basics and easily scalable if the customer needs.
OEMs, skid/machine builders, manufacturers - this is a very cost effective solution to your automation needs. No software contracts, more affordable hardware, and this solution is built to be programmed and deployed quickly.

I am working on #HMI programming with #Weintek for the passenger boarding bridges produced by the company I work for, UBS Airport Systems.
These HMI systems are installed in airports across many cities and countries, where they are used in the operator cabins to control passenger boarding bridges safely and efficiently.
Through this project, I have gained valuable experience in industrial automation, control systems, and aviation technologies, while also contributing to solutions that are deployed on a global scale.

Control panel for the equipment upgrade of an existing waterplay area at a riverside park in regional QLD. IT features Schneider Electric switchgear and a Weintek HMI. The board provided control and water treatment to 3 key areas:
- The "Water Stream" region, where water is pumped into a boat feature and trickling down through a concrete stream.
- "Splashpad" region, where water is pumped into a series of jumping and cascade jets, draining to a perimeter strip drain.
- "Wreck Pool" region, where water is pumped into a shallow pool through eyeballs in one wall, draining through to an overflow grate.
All water then drains to a balance tank where it is then treated and returned to the other end of the tank.

🔹 Engineering the Nitrogen Skid Unit – Power Meets Intelligence
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on at HydroSERV was the Skid Nitrogen Pumping Unit – a system that combines mechanical power, safety, and smart automation in one compact design.
These units are capable of delivering nitrogen at pressures up to 10,000 PSI and flow rates up to 180,000 SCFH, and they are essential in:
✅ Well servicing & intervention
✅ Pipeline & valve pressure testing
✅ Purging & blanketing to prevent oxygen/moisture
✅ Drying operations for tanks & pipelines
✅ Inerting in refineries & chemical plants
⚙️ Key Components of the Unit:
High-Pressure Pump – delivers nitrogen reliably at extreme pressures.
Vaporizer System – converts liquid nitrogen into usable gas.
Detroit Diesel Engine – the driving power of the unit.
Storage & Piping System – safe distribution and flow handling.
Skid Frame – a compact, mobile structure I designed in SolidWorks to house and protect all equipment.
🔧 My Contribution – Where Mechatronics Comes Alive:
Mechanical Design: Created the Skid Frame and drafted precision components like the IN-2 Plunger Clamp, ensuring manufacturability and accuracy.
Automation & Control:
Installed and wired pressure, flow, and temperature sensors directly to the PLC.
Built a jack (junction) box to organize and simplify the control circuit.

Technical breakdown of the Ideal Manufacturing LLC Cope Machine:
This two station cope machine is demonstrated here being fed by a UR 20. This robot is a bit overkill for the application but accomplishes the job with its impressive 68in reach.
The control system for this machine is based on a Beckhoff Automation CX series processor which enabled easy to implement multi-axis motion control and logic control. We also rely on the TwinSAFE platform to seamlessly manage the safety logic for this machine. Phoenix Contact supplies safe zero speed monitoring for the 2 high speed 9kw spindles powered by Lenze i500 series VFDs over EtherCAT. These spindles have quick change HSK tool holders and are capable of 12000 RPM in this configuration.
Compact motion control keeps the cabinet size low with the EL72xx series drives which drive the Beckhoff AM8000 servo motors to provide reliable, precise motion for cutting and positioning of the spindles in 3 dimensional space in combination with Apex gearboxes and Metal Work's linear actuators. The spindle gantry is built of 3/4in steel to reduce vibration and improve cut quality. This results in a gantry with estimated weight of 300lbs.
Pneumatics are controlled using Metal Works EB80 IO-Link valve bank with an interrupted power section for safe state operation.
Weintek offers this clean, quality HMI from the CMTX series and easy communication to the PLC over ADS.
